Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Fun car with lots of get up and go - 2006 Audi A4

I got a red on black 2006 Audi A4 quattro 2.0T with the Premium package and S-Line package. It priced out at about 39,300, but it is worth every penny. The turbocharged 4 liter makes you feel like you are driving a larger and more powerful 6 cylinder engine. There truly is no need to pay for the 3.2 liter engine. The car has a beautiful exhaust note and is a blast to drive with the tiptronic. With the S-Line package you get paddle shifters which are a lot of fun. The S-Line comes with S-4 body stylings and badging along with beautiful 18 inch S Line rims wrapped in high quality summer performance rubber. The suspension is also tightened up. The interior is plenty comfortable and looks great.

  • 4-Year Perspective - 2004 Audi A4
    By -

Overall, my 4-year experience with the A4 has been a good one. I concur with the turbo lag mentioned in other reviews on standing starts. However, at road speeds the turbo is much more responsive. I have had no mechanical issues with this vehicle that required service. The sports suspension and quattro make this car a pleasure to drive in any weather conditions. Traction in heavy snow has been fabulous. Ive heard a lot of negative stories about the Pirelli tires the 2004 model came with (defects, noise, low tread life), but I have 38,000 miles on mine, and have had no issues.

  • 2001 A4 Avant - 2001 Audi A4

I bought this car certified used which I would recommend. What a great peppy car! Fantastic handling on curvy mountain roads, as expected. Having turbo makes driving even more fun. Extremely reliable. Approaching 100K miles and it still drives like new. My only real complaint: for an all-weather, all-wheel-drive car it could be a little tougher. Its a bit dainty. A great commuter car that lets you cart groceries, kids and pets without the size of a normal wagon.

THE CAR IS EXTREMELY WELL DONE. The experience i have had thus far is just the incredible handling and extremely sophisticated convertible top, which gives me a sedan like db on the interior. Audi even placed carpet under the wheel well.

  • Good car but totally unreliable - 2004 Audi A4
    By -

I really like my 2004 A4 but it has been in the shop too many times. It had problems with the turbo charger at about 37k miles, then a leaking oil gasket at 45k, ignition coils replaced at 48k and the entire 2nd cylinder head was replaced shortly after that. Luckily this was done under warranty but Im thinking of selling it now before anything else can go wrong.

  • The Little Car That Could... - 2007 Audi A4
    By -

After months of research, I dismissed the following cars: Saab 9-3, Volvo S40, Infiniti G35, Acura TSX. It came down to the Acura TL and the A4. I bought the A4 because of the ride and I got it for $3K less than the TL. The car is fast, but watch out for turbo lag from a standing start. The quality of build is terrific. Im getting 30 mpg with 70% hwy driving. The trunk is surprisingly spacious, but a little tight for the drivers right leg. Get the premium package (with leather seats). Great fun all around!

  • Awesome Audi Avant Manual 6 - 2006 Audi A4
    By -

My 2006 Avant 3.2 manual has the premium, s-line, cold and titanium packages. I defected from BMW. This car has great handling with understated looks but still gets stares. The manual shifts crisply and the power through all gears is great. It really pulls through each one when you step on the gas. The only problem so far is an annoying rattle in the dash. Dealer says they charge for labor on rattles after 12k miles. Audi USA says its covered under warranty. This is the only disappointment on the car. Stereo, Bluetooth are great. I love the dash. The white and red contrast is very sporty and lux.

  • I love this car! - 2004 Audi A4
    By -

I thought I might get tired of this car with the expensive monthly payment but I just love it more and more. It is such a quiet, smooth ride inside, even on the highway. It is so much fun to drive. I dont mind my 25 mile commute to work. I love my heated seats. I would never buy leather seats without them. I love the 200 watt bose speaker syster. I cant say enough about this car. Ive had it for 9 months and am still in love with it. Im always staring at it. Thanks Audi!

  • a4-station wagon review - 2004 Audi A4

I had an Volvo Suv which is a great car but too much for this small girl to handle or see out of...It takes driving a big vehicle to make you miss the handling and easy maneuvering of a smaller car. This is the closest thing to driving a BMW 5 series--has a really tight feel and response with the added cache of all wheel drive! I drove the BMW 3 series, which handles well, but the interior was inferior to the Audi!

  • My A4 - 2006 Audi A4
    By -

If you want a car that gets noticed, is fun to drive, handles great, has a beautiful interior and just makes you feel good, then check out the new 2006 Audi A4. I have the 2.0T Quattro. The car is quick as a whip and the all wheel drive makes you feel glued to the road. Handles great in the rain and secure in snowy weather. All I can say is way to go Audi.
