Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Fantastic Ride - 2007 Audi A4

Only have 2000 miles in 3 months. Visited the dealer on a whim after checking out Saab and VW Eos. VW dealer had a used A4 on the lot. Big mistake. For about the same money as an Eos , I was able to lease a new A4 with Quattro. I feel the value of this car with all its luxury and fit n finish puts all others to shame in this class. It is a second car, so it doesnt get its fair share of outdoor time. I cant keep my eyes off it. It turns heads on the road as well. The Alpaca Beige is really unique and looks great with the aluminum trim. Didnt get all bells and whistles since inventory was limited. Stereo just ok. Convenience pkg is great as are 18" wheels. Just put the top down and grin!

  • Replaced the SUV -) - 2007 Audi A4

After driving an ML320 for the past eight years, it was a big decision to return to a sedan. We looked at, and drove, many of the SUVs and cross over vehicles but werent happy with the fuel economy (nor the cost) so we started driving sedans. We bought the A4 because of its proven AWD system in the NE winters. We have 9000 miles on it so far and its been great. We average 28 mpg, the driving is great fun and its very responsive on curves, etc. The quallity of engineering is impressive and the service (for the 5k oil change) quick and friendly. Great little car!

  • A pleasure to drive - 2006 Audi A4

I knew right away after a test drive that the Audi A4 3.2 was the car for me. I have around 3,000 miles on it so far and I am very happy with it. I just purchased mounted winter tires from the TireRack and am eager to test out the Quattro this winter here in Cleveland.

  • Ultra Sport ! - 2004 Audi A4

This is my third A4 quattro. Brilliant Black with Ebony Leather 3.0L with the new Ultra Sport Package. With the full Aero-kit and 18" RS6 wheels it looks and drives great! I have every option( except nav..I know where I am!)The fit and finish is hands down the BEST in the industry. The dealer and staff at Boardwalk Audi in Plano,Tx. are great and the service I had with my first two Audis was wonderful. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a terrific sport sedan.

  • Fun to drive - 1999 Audi A4

Our Avant is a great car. Its fun to drive and the styling is great. We have had our share of mechanical issues but it still beats driving the less than inspiring others.

  • Never follow, lead with an A4 - 2007 Audi A4

This is an unbelievable car that has as much "pep in its step" as a BMW, but with more elegance and minus a couple thousand dollars.

  • Nice car, but too many problems - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

This car is great when it is working. Unfortunately, its spent too much time in the shop. Its had engine failure (engine stalled in the middle of the street), air conditioning failure, the stereo kept going mono for the first three years, all brakepads had to be replaced, back windscreen cracked, drivers power window motor failure, alarm siren failed, indicator light failed, engine oil stick broke, sunroof didnt open/close properly- the list goes on, all within the first 5 years. I cant recommend Audi to anyone.

  • First German Made car - 2007 Audi A4
    By -

Bought my first German made car. Almost bought a ford fusion but when I really sat down and saw the better engineering, beefier parts, and the technology on this vehicle, the difference easily went away from the v6 opponent. All I can say is I got 36 mpg at 65 mph. 32 driving slow ~45 mph in stop and go traffic around town. Vehicle kicks with the cvt which you can make drive like a regular transmission, but that burns more fuel and well you dont need it.

  • Great Car - 2005 Audi A4

We traded an Audi for a Mercedes and kept it 10 years but we had to go back to Audi as it was the best automobile that we had ever owned. The dealer is top notch, the new car is even better.

  • Great Car but Expensive to Maintain - 1996 Audi A4
    By -

I do appreciate the bulletproof reliability of Honda (Acura) and Toyota (Lexus), but the driving experience does not even come close to that of a good German sedan such as Audi or BMW. If you are looking for strictly gas mileage and reliability, those cars are the way to go. But when you compare the feel of a Acura TL, for example, to an Audi A4 of the same year and price, the Audi is more solid and refined. In other words, the car has character. The Audi is the older, more mature brother, solid and stable without trying to be. Just like all the finer things in life though, it comes at a price. That price is maintenance costs that would most likely triple that of your average Japanese car.
