Overview & Reviews
The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.
The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

Whats not so hot - 2002 Audi A4
By The DUde - January 19 - 2:00 amSimply put great car with a few killer flaws! turbo blow-off valve not very good at all (choppy acceleration). ignition coils; alot of a4s are being towed off the road for this little kink that they forgot to think about. and lower gears should ahve lower ratios

Excellence - 2003 Audi A4
By Andrew - January 17 - 11:44 pmThe car is amazing, the 5 speed is gear limited at 138 MPH, but it gets there fast with the 1.8T engine. Definitely worthy of a test drive, thats all it takes. One good pull away from a red light and youre hooked. If youre in it for luxury, you are by no means left out, this car has more features than any of the new lincolns, cadillacs, or beemers I have sat in. If youre in it for economy, Im seeing an average of 26MPG mixed city and highway (about 60/40% respectively), so its not too shabby.

I love this little car - 2007 Audi A4
By Ken Feingold - January 17 - 1:34 pmIm big, the car isnt, but all in all it is reasonably comfortable. The AWD 6 speed 2.0 T gives me all the performance that I really need for Canadian winters and driving distances. Mileage is excellent on the hwy in 6th and this car pulls well past the speed limit. I find the fit and finish as good as my previous bimmers but the car is more reliable than my recent X5s and is actually better in the snow. I reccomend this car wholeheartedly - I always enjoy driving it!

Love the car but... - 2007 Audi A4
By Fred - January 16 - 4:12 pmGreat car for driving around town. Convertable is really fun and in the winter, quattro really gets you through. One issue I have is that on a long trip, the drivers seat becomes very uncomfortable to the point of painful. I have had the pad replaced but it didnt help. I use a towel on the seat for long trips. Additionally, the german car makers need to upgrade their Nav system. Toyota and Acura systems win by a mile!

Expensive to Fix: But to be expected - 1998 Audi A4
By COOQUACK - January 14 - 2:00 amI bought my A4 used: My first used car in many years. I love the car, but it certainly can be pricey in repair bills. In the last several months I have replaced 2 ball barrings and a leaking seal - spilling oil into both the upper and lower pans (in total costing almost 2 grand.) Now, I need new brakes (something the Audi dealer instisted I didnt need) and I recently started having a problem with the emmisions. It certainly isnt my last car (Accord EX), which I bought new, put 60,000 miles on, and never replaced a thing on(except wipers and tires.) BUT, I STILL LOVE MY AUDI. Its performace and handling outweigh the mechanical hassels (so far...)

A few reservations - 2006 Audi A4
By JSL1 - January 14 - 1:33 amThe A4, while fun to drive, leaves some reservations. There is a noticeable hesitation when starting from zero. Consumer Reports mentions this. The 4-cyl. turbo, while powerful with a nice, occasionally pleasant burble, is, at times coarse. Also noticed by CR. The sound quality of the audio system is just good, not up to the sound in our 99 A6. But the comfort and convenience, the surprising torque, the sheer joy of taking turns faster than you really should while the A4 clings firmly to the asphalt is thrilling.

Love Hate Typical Euro - 1998 Audi A4
By DrivingEnthusiast - January 13 - 3:03 pmLoved the car. Quattro, V6, manual - everything I wanted in an automobile. Unfortunately, I owned a Honda and a Toyota before my A4. Audi is totally performance oriented and cares nothing about vehicle life after the 50k warranty. The following were replaced from 70k to 110k: tie rods, suspension components, electronic controls, wheel bearings, and ABS sensor. There was a lifter tick for the last 10k miles so Im sure something else was about to fail. Timing belt change job cost $1400 at 90k. I kept great care of this car and it kept breaking. I dont care how great Quattro was Ill never go back to Audi/VW.

Sweeet - 2008 Audi A4
By jeff - January 8 - 12:12 amMy first Audi (drove a 1.8T jetta for 5 years) this is one sweet ride. Gone is the turbo lag I had in Jetta, probably due to the Audi manual transmission. Nice smooth shifting, very good acceleration, fuel mileage has been in upper 20s, but car only has 2000 miles on it. The appearance of the grille is very sporty and somewhat mean looking :). I got basic car with 17" wheels, leather, bluetooth and iPod. The interior is beautiful and very comfortable. The ride is smooth and does this car love curves! Overall, the cost of this car is very reasonable. Overall, very pleased at this point. Highly recommend anyone taking a look.
