Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Terrific reliable car, but costly - 1998 Audi A4

100,000 miles later, it has never let me down, but be prepared to pay. Suspension bits especially, and there are an infinite number of bits in the quattro suspension. The interior is unmatched and extremely durable, and Audi paint is excellent. There are few cars of the era that do so many things well, including 27mpg.

  • 04 A4 1.8T to 06 A4 2.0T Quattro S-Line - 2006 Audi A4

I just replaced my 2004 A4 1.8T fronttrack with a 2006 2.0T quattro. The car just feels better in every aspect. The quattro makes a huge difference. The 2.0T is a huge improvement over the 1.8T. i also have the S-Line sport package with summer tires. Only complaint from me is that Audi/VW will no longer offer XM radio as a factory option starting 2007 model year. Thats why I bought it now. Not a fan of Sirius at all.

This car has been the best Ive EVER owned. I have a Lexus that my wife drives with lower milage and I must say the A4 has held up much better. I drive a twisty road along a river in Vermont that makes this car shine. I have replaced the lower control arms and one wheel bearing, the T.belt kit, W/pump because I was so close doing the T.belt, use Mobil One oil with Audi filters. The low end works so well when you need to step out, even in the snow and ice few cars can get out of the way as the Audi can. I admit adding a mild chip bumped the Hp to just over 200HP. The 1.8t keeps a good balance over the heavy 2.8 and

This is a great car. We love it, but hated the Pirelli P6 tires that came with it. They were allergic to gravel roads. The Bridgestone replacements are doing great.

  • Great Car! - 2001 Audi A4

I get about 25 mpg altogether, which isnt bad. I love the feeling of acceleration you get when you step on it in second or third, as well as the nice whistling whoosh from the engine at about 3,000 rpm.Seats are comfortable, climate control is superb, and despite many other Audi owners, I have had no problems with this car, aside from a bent rim and an intake leak.

  • An Awesome Automobile - 2005 Audi A4

I was attracted to the Audi A4 as an entry level luxury sedan primarily because it is one of the few that offer all wheel drive. The BMW 325xi was my other option, but turned out to be more expensive. I really like the look of the A4. The ride is smooth, quiet and firm. No rattles or shakes. Fit and finish is top notch. The warranty is generous, includes free maintenance to 50K miles. The sound system is excellent. Overall I am very happy with it so far ( owned it for 6 months). Planning to boost the HP by reprogramming the ECU.

When I first saw the car I loved it. Its fun to drive with an all wheel drive system, very comfortable and well built. The only bad thing that I had was the 2 weeks after I got the car the coil pack went out, which mean miss fire on one of the cylinders. Easy fix, and thats the only problem I have, since then its been a joy ride.

  • Best A4 Yet - 2006 Audi A4
    By -

Ive had several A4s and this is the best on yet. The others were manual shift and I was concerned that there would be a performance loss with this car, but thats not the case. Like all Audis this one is solid, designed well, and fun to drive. The tiptronic is simply amazing with three different shift options - sport mode does a great job of keeping the revs up, downshifting correctly - all in all, feeling just like a manual without the hassle of shifing. Everyone I know loves this car. I test drove a new 330i, and while the BMW does have a great motor, Im not a fan of its design - too overwrought and incongruent - hard to look at, inside and out.

The quattro system allows you to do what others can not. The handling is phenomenal and all in a luxurious environment.
