The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  Too many expensive repairs has taken the fun out of this car. I will miss the way it drives and extras, like the Bose stereo system, when I soon buy something different.

  I have had my A4 for 2.5 yrs. I had 34000 miles on the car when I bought and now have 82000. In the last year I have had to replace the ignition coil, fuel pump, and Im getting ready to take it in for a trans module that costs $2000. And I just found out my top leaks and will need to be replaced at $2500. This is a car you need to get rid of at 40 or 50k miles. Audi I hope you see this review. Its time to trade for a Toyota or Honda.

  First of all, this is the worst car Ive ever owned. Second of all, the worst car I ever owned...now you got my point. At 57k miles replaced the CVT transmission ($8K), CV boot 4x, headlight every 3-6months, it goes on. Never will ever buy or own an Audi again, worst than Yugo and Id rather drive a Pacer.

  Excellent vehicle. I keep coming back to Audi, my fifth one over the last 20 years. Never lets me down and cant beat the handling.

  We love out Audi Convertible. It has a great ride...plenty of get up and go...it is exactly with a sporty convertible should be.

  This is truly an awesome car. It is a blast to drive the 6 speed manual on the country roads over here. Today I went for a drive and enjoyed 35MPG. Responsive engine, German engineering and handling for a reasonable cost. Cant beat it!!! Oh... I forgot to mention we can buy 98.6 Octane petrol here (Shell Optimax) and that cant hurt.

  Im an American living in Germany. The Autobahn is made for driving. The A4 is made for the Autobahns. Plenty of power, the new 2 litre turbo has more than enough power. Handling, when you get on the mountain passes, you really need it. Thats something that my SUV did not have. I would recommend this car to anyone.

  Had it 5 months so far and am loving it! Have the 1.8T 5 speed and it is so fun to drive! Plenty of pick-up. Handles extremely well too!

  This car is amazing. I have driven 12,000 miles in 6 months. Car is a pleasure to drive. Nice pickup and precise handling. It get a bit cramped if 5 people are sitting in the car. The dash board has too many buttons, but I find that cool. I find it hard to think of any mistakes in this car.

  Clearly outstanding! I evaluated against BMW 330i and found the BMW to be nicely built but with older styling, a cheaper interior and for $5k more! The choice was easy. This car is a headturner!
