The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  So beautiful and so much fun to drive! Great steering, great braking. Hesitates out of the gate, but makes up for it once youre sailing along.

  Better than a BMW? - 2002 Audi A4

  The A4 is a great car. Looks great, drives great has probably the best interior of any car that starts under 30K and with options like Quattro you can understand why Audi has been so successful with this car. Probably the best feature of this car is the relative sparsity of them compared to the BMW 3 series. I see at least 10 black 3 series cars every day on my way to work. So if youre looking for something a little special, the A4 is a great choice.

  First off, the car is great. I have put on a couple thousand miles and have been pretty happy so far. I do have a few gripes. Im coming from a 2008 RAV4 so this is my baseline. Glove box is very small. Yes there is a CD player in there but still...its kind of worthless for storage. That said, storage is pretty much non-existent. The RAV4 has a bunch of compartments for all my stuff. The A4 has nothing other than the glove box. No sunglasses holder. I cant put a large Gatorade bottle in the cup holder unless I put it upside down. My RAV has a removable rubber cup holder insert so I can put the bigger bottle in it. Side pockets are small as well. The interior is otherwise well done. Gas mileage is great. Performance is excellent. Stock tires are quiet but do not seem very grippy when pushing it. Overall very happy with my purchase, albeit with a couple of complaints.

  This is my first real car, and I couldnt ask for more. I have a huge grin on my face everytime I see a windy road! This car handles like no other. By handling I dont mean Cadi style, I mean it hugs the road. Quattro confindence is a must for a skier.

  The a4 is a great all around car and excellant in the snow but the 1.8T engine is lacking a little though you can easily get that bumped up to 200 or so by a chip. This car has very few flaws but i have had alot of trouble changing out the sound system. Try to find a bose equppied model to save you time. This is a car i would highly recommend

  This is my 4th Audi, and they keep getting better! Unlike most convertibles this car rides smooth and quiet; no shakes or rattles, even on Houstons rough roads. The 3.0 V6 has more than enough power for city driving. The car has excellent interior and exterior styling that garners many compliments!

  One of the best handling cars and most fun cars to drive. Good power (but not great), great handling (better after lowering), and adequate comfort. Good mileage, and with all wheel drive is a car that you can take just about anywhere on any road under any conditions. Exceptional brakes, although peddle pressure required is high -- suggest changing to Brembo disks and calipers. Reliability, outside of front suspension parts, is outstanding. After more than 150,000 miles, it still feels and runs like new.

  Now in my 4th month, w/o significant problems so far, looking for every excuse to drive it. I grew up in Germany and this car is built for the Autobahn. I cannot imagine a safer car in the New England winter. I dont understand why some call it "underpowered" in a country with such ridiculous speed limits. Why do you need <8.0 seconds for 0-60 if the speed limit is 65 MPH !?!?!
