Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Great Performance, Outstanding Design - 2002 Audi A4

Ive had my A4 3.0 Quattro 6 speed for almost 2 months and I love the car. The only option I got is the sports package but the car comes loaded stock. I love the A4s handling, the Quattro shines when the roads are wet. The power is well suited to the car, not the fastest in its class but it achieves a very good balance. My last car was a Miata, the A4 has much of the sports car feel but with the back seat and all of the comfort items you would expect from a German luxury model. And the A4 is gorgeous inside and out.

  • Tremendous Value - 2003 Audi A4

I just turned 5K on my 2003 1.8T. Its got every option available, aside from the Onstar. I highly recommend the sport package if you enjoy driving. I swapped the 17-inch summer tires and went with Blizzaks for the CT winter season and it was WELL worth it. This car can drive through anything. The turbo is a bit light in the low end, but overall it does very well for a 4 cylinder. The G35 is a great sports car, but I would have been stuck in the garage for the entire winter. Versus the 325 (x)i, the 1.8T with all options is a good choice that will save you lots of cash and not sacrifice performance.

  • engine coil problem has been resolved - 2003 Audi A4

Did much research and comparison before settling on the Audi A4 quattro 1.8T. The reliability concerns in some reviews were largely due to an engine coil problem that has been resolved. Earlier versions of the 2003 that were still on the sale lots should have had this correct. Check on this. Later in the model year, all cars should have had the problem corrected at the factory. Also, the later version of the premium package does include power front seats, along with leather seat surfaces, sunroof, and built in garage door remote. Im loving this car. FUN TO DRIVE, and gas milage, so far, has been even better than that advertised.

  • A4 at 1 year - problems - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

In this "maintenance-free" first year, my A4 had headlight problems, low oil problems (I dont drive hard either), vibrations and major engine problems. My engine problems consist of a number 1 & 5 error, which is one tiny step away from replacing the entire engine. It appears that only 4 of the 6 pistons are working.Lovely! I feel this car is one of the sleekest cars on the market and a killer performer. However, the reliability, fuel economy and price (mine=38000) are so bad I dont recommend this car to anyone. If you love AWD and Audi, go with the A6/A8. Audi doesn’t cut the same corners with the A6/A8 as with the A4. But you will pay the big bucks

  • Head turner! - 2003 Audi A4

Great car (this is our second Audi) and my wife loves it. It will be her dily driver and shes captivated by it. The CVT tranny though results in a VERY slow pick up as you initially accelerate. Once moving, this car is impressive in all areas for a cruiser and a blast to drive. In two weeks, we have 1800 miles on it.

  • Forget about a Bimmer. This is better - 1999 Audi A4

I test-drove the 328, and all things considered , the Audi is better value for the money. It will run rings around the Bimmer in bad weather. There are a lot of neat features to learn about once you buy one. The downside is that the back seats are somewhat cramped. Im 61" though, and the front seats are fine for me.

  • 2006 audi a4 check engine light always on - 2006 Audi A4
    By -

I owned acura integra,Toyota Corolla and Mitsubishi Lancet evolution 8,driving Japanese cars is much easier, cheap to maintain and check engine light barely turn on. Before I buying any type of cars i do my research on Edmunds consumer review and how this people rate the 2006 audi a4 "great car" is a lie because first year of owing it in had nothing but headaches on repairs and terrible gas mileage on a stock car(normal driving). I do my regular oil change 3k miles, transmission fluid flush at 100k and do most of the repair myself and check engine light never ends, after fixing one thing a different check light codes pops up. I spend $2000 in oem parts within the last 3 years owning it,cam followers, pcv valves, brake booster hoses, spark plugs coil packs all replaced. Interior is also falling apart my glove compartment hinges replaced ,center console arm replaced, passenger back window motor replaced, window button peeling off replaced, rear back seat cup holder wont open i think the spring is damage inside to pop out. Overall this 2006 a4 is garbage and I wont be owing any audi a4 ever again.

  • Mistake - 2000 Audi A4
    By -

I will start by saying I love the design and performance. But....I have never had a car in the shop more. Yes, because of the good warrenty, it hasnt cost me anything other than time. I have replaced more headlights than I care to remember. The car has been towed once, had a brake rotar replaced, conciquental gagets not working properly, and other misc. problems. The shop I deal with has been a horror and Audi has not done anything to address my concerns. My lease ends in January and I cant wait to get out.
