  • Spectacular! - 1997 Audi A4

I had a blue adui a4 and i loved it, it was like my little go kart, becuase it was so fun to drive. I liked the layout of the interior, but i wish the backseat was bigger. I was also very pleased with the reliability. All in all, i recomend this car to anybody who is looking for a small, reliable, and fun to drive automobile.

  • Great Mountain Car if you can afford it - 1997 Audi A4

I love this car! I bought it used at 85k miles and have a 117000 now. Its smooth, good pep- not a barn burner, but adequate. The naturally asperated FI V6 is very nice. The car is solid like a Benz and has a strong hint of Porche in it. Its a cat in the snow. The wheels never spin-never! I recently bought a 2004- I like it even more! Repairs are expensive- Its cheaper to lease a new one covered in warranty, then to keep pouring big bucks into the old babe- Nothing lasts for ever...

  • My A4 - 1997 Audi A4

I have been more than impressed with my A4s outstanding interior, smooth good looks, exceptional build quality and ride. It has generous trunk space and front seats are very comfortable, altho rear passengers lack legroom. Its also quite affordable! The 1.8 turbo with 5 speed stick delivers smooth power (no noticeable lag) and enough horses to run with V6s. Ive been disappointed with reliability, needing to replace headlight bulbs repeatedly, and the rack & pinion steering system. While the ride is nice, Id prefer it stiffer for enthusiastic driving, but replacing the tires with some Kumhos vastly improved it.

  • Great Audi If taken care of. - 1997 Audi A4

This car was my first Audi. I am very pleased that the car was taken care of by the first owner, which made it a whole lot better looking. I love the quattro. The only problem is that for a v6 there is not a whole lot of power, but then again your powering all 4 wheels. The traction and handling are GREAT. VERY PLEASED. But the Germans forgot that some Americans live in the heat and not in the snow so It has a tough time cooling itself down. The only thing that I did not like were the strips of plastic/metal on each door. They rot away easily and are a $100 to replace. But a great car.

  • Fun and sporty, but small - 1997 Audi A4

Before I bought my Acura TL this was my favorite daily driver. I really enjoyed owning my A4 1.8TQM and regretted that I never chipped it. I sold it 3 years later to afford my dream home. I found this car a lot of fun to drive, and raced it in Solo 2 (Autocross) for two seasons. I also liked the surefooted behavior on snow when I took it skiing. However, I was disappointed with the service, and encourage owners to keep an eye on fluid and air pressure levels in order to avoid unfortunate, avoidable run-ins with the dealer.

  • 97 A4 - 1997 Audi A4

Its been a good daily use car. The car feels solid, however at 60k+ its getting a couple minor rattles. The dealers costs for repairs are excessive, this is the only reason I may not buy another one. When the car is cold its slugish, but it warms up quickly. I would probably spend the extra money for the V6 next time. However the 1.8T is a great 4 cyl.

  • Good buy - 1997 Audi A4

Bought my A4 two years ago, and bought an extended warrenty. I had the turbo replaced under warrenty- I was happy to have it. The AWD is great for Michigan winters, and the rust protection seems to be very good. I plan on keeping this car for a while.

  • A4 IS ONLY GOOD FOR 80,000 MILES - 1997 Audi A4
    By -

Ill never buy one again!! 0 - 80000 miles the A4 ran perfectly. On its 80000m birthday huge problems. Major oil leak hear, broken gasket there, usual timing belt replacement, cracked heating pipe under there, electric switch on transm failure, etc., etc., etc. In a 3 month period, I averaged close to $3k in car repairs and it has never run the same. Dont plan on keeping the A4 for longer than 5 years, unless you want it in the shop for 4 weeks each year while the dealer complains it cannot get parts from Germany or back East. Goodbye Audi, hello Infinity, Lexis, Honda.

  • Cupholders Please - 1997 Audi A4
    By -

Bought this vehicle on the Audi Assured program. A very reliable and a great car. It is fun to drive...but have a few complaints. 1st, oil changes at the dealership are expensive ($65 to $100) and required to maintain the warranty. 2nd, the cupholders are AWEFUL! Note to Audi...Americans like to drink beverages when they drive. The 2 excuses for cupholders on this car will hold a can of soda, and thats it...Other than that, great car that runs smooth and never fails me in the snow.

  • Audi is a pain and Don Rosen is not good - 1997 Audi A4
    By -

After owning the A4 for only 3 1/2 years, the transmission had to be replaced. This repair could have been made earlier and saved the transmission, but because of a misdiagnosis by Don Rosen it resulted in the total destruction of the transmission. In addition, had the reported problems been diagnosed properly when I reported them it would have been covered under warranty. Luckily, I was able to talk Don Rosen into covering half the cost, but it still cost me $2500.
