Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

This is an awesome car. I got it with the premium, sport package and Bose sound system. The handling is excellent on turns and highway and the ride is very smooth. The interior is very classy and quiet. The engine is powerful but lacks torque at low rpm, but once it hits 3000 rpm, it delivers. Overall, I just love this car. I wait to get into it and drive it! everyday!

Just purchased the new A4- significant improvements over previous generation. Tested Mercedes C class, BMW 3 series, Infinti G35, Lexus IS before deciding on Audi. Vehicle has premium pckg, Technology pckg, B&O stereo system. All options worth the extra cost- stereo is wonderful, MMI much easier and intuitive than BMW, steering is very crisp, engine is very good, transmission very smooth, shifting in manual mode is great! As expected, interior is best in class and extra length to car has resulted in much better back seat space than previous versions- tall people will still find back a bit cramped though. Save money + stay with base engine- turbo is great!

  • Quattro. Love it and love my car. - 2002 Audi A4

I bought this car after looking at a new 325, a used M3, and a Lexus IS300. Ive put 16,000 miles on this car and the only issues Ive had came from the coil-pack problem that seemed to plague some of the 2002s. Both times, the dealer did whatever they could to get the car fixed. Besides that, this car has been a blast to drive! It looks and drives great! The 1.8T could use a little more low- end power, but I love the great gas mileage I get (avg. 29.5/mpg). By far, the best car Ive owned. I would like a little more power, but I guess Ill have to save up and place an order for the new S4.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Owned - 2001 Audi A4

My previous car was a Mercedes, and Ive owned about twenty other cars in my lifetime, and this is the best , so far. Im a designer, and love the clean design. With the Quattro AWD system, the car corners like it is on rails -- wet or dry. But the quality of materials and workmanship is what really sets this car apart from others -- and it was a lot less expensive than my Mercedes. I will buy another Audi.

This is the best looking Audi to come out of Ingolstadt. I still have a great looking and very reliable 85 Audi Coupe GT and so I decided on getting another Audi with the latest technology. The Xenon HID headlights are amazing in how well they light up the road ahead as well as to the sides. I get outstanding mileage on the highway (33mpg) yet the motor feels very strong and tight. The seats could offer a bit more thigh support and arent as plush as in my old Audi but its still a comfortable ride. The only problem I experienced was the drivers airbag warning light repeatedly coming on despite dealer resets. The fix was a new airbag installed for free .

  • Make Sure You Have a Replacment Car - 1998 Audi A4

Least reliable car I have ever owned. Most expensive to repair car I have ever owned. Broken timing belt cost me over 6K to repair and it was 3 months at the dealer before I saw it again. Headlight switch goes out twice a year...every year. Front end is too low to the ground, gets pulled off by parking blocks. Bad weld on engine needed repair. Water pump, fan clutch, electric fan, ball joints, window washer pump, among repairs I can recall.

  • Very great vehicle for the price. - 2001 Audi A4

First of all I would like to say that this car rocks. Its the best german car that anyone can get there hands on for under 30k. The performance is amazing and so is the comfort and the ride. And man is it fun to ride. The 5 speed is very fun and the car is surpriseling fast for the amount of horses it has. But than again, I cant complain since I bought the vehicle for 25.5K. I would recommend this vehicle to anyone who is looking for an entry level sports luxury sedan.

  • Wunderbar! - 1999 Audi A4

This is the best Audi I have driven thus far, and I have driven many! From Audi 200 (V8) Quattro Turbo to Audi 80 GTE...and they were all great cars.

  • Best $28,000 ever spent on a car! - 1999 Audi A4

This was my first new car, initially purchased to get through the VT winters. I have been on road trips from Quebec City to New York, New England to Texas and Texas to Colorado. It excells in the snow (with proper tires), handles very well (sport suspension) and is a very good highway cruiser (despite the high rpms in 5th).
