The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  This is my first Audi and so far Im very pleased. The overall muscular look of the exterior and refined interior was what attracted me. The turbo engine has plenty of power especially in "s" mode. Interior controls are well laid out and the dual climate control works exceptionally well - very cold A/C. The ride is rather quiet and wind noise is relatively unnoticeable. Fuel economy is a bit less than advertised. I do mostly highway driving at 60-70 mph and I have been getting 30 mpg versus 32 mpg advertised. Overall, Im very pleased with the value and quality of this car!

  This is my first Audi as well as the first car under my name. It truly makes driving fun and what really sold me was the sleek classy look of the interior. After driving this vehichle for only 5 months and 7000 mi I have already decided that I am going to treasure it for at least the next 93000 mi. and am confident that it will be able to handle the miles with little too no out of pocket $$$. Regardless, my next vehicle will be an Audi as well. Perhaps the Le Mons series!

  All in all, the car has lived up to its ratings by the automotive press. Acceleration from a standstill is not the greatest, until the turbocharger kicks in... then it feels a lot stronger and reacts. The sport suspension handles very well, but the agressive tires are fairly noisy, especially at highway speeds. The center console does restrict leg movement and can be a little uncomfortable for a taller driver. The seating is firm and may be considered stiff by some.

  Dolphin Grey is the color to get. Love the car and all the options (heated rear seats, 6-disc changer in dash, platinum lined interior, etc). I own a BMW 323i (2000) and this car drives sportier and smoother. I would recommend this car to anyone looking for a $30,000 luxury car.

  This car is worthless. The electrical system has been shot since day one. My car has been in the shop 61 days and counting and Audi refuses to do anything about it. Ask your salesman why they include a manual crank for the sunroof. Its because they cant design a good electrical system. No one should own one of these after the warrenty ends. You would have to be a millionaire to keep up with the cost.

  First of all the obvious: needs more power, more leg room, a better sound system, and the loaner car program is a joke. besides that what a great car: fun to drive, excellent build (tighter finish and better materials than the past three infinitis weve owned), the CVT is great and very interstate friendly.

  I gave my boss and some other coworkers a lift the other day, and my boss was impressed. "this is a great car. Im amazed at the interior." It is a great car. I looked at BMWs, Volvos, Saabs, etc., for style, safety, and performance. The A4 has it all. Its a toy and its a statement. For safety, I dont think it can be beat. On my way home tonight, a Jeep Cherokee ran a red light. It was rainy, the roads were slick, I was at speed and yet the Audi prevaled. I braked and swerved my A4 steered right around that Jeep like I was dancing with butterflies. I am fast becoming one of Audis best salespersons.

  I bought this car about a year ago and love it. The AWD is fantastic - I dont like to drive cars without it now. The 99.5 has a reconfigured front cabin with a conveniently placed cupholder - if you have a choice, go for the newer one.
