The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.
The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

Excellent Car - 1998 Audi A4
By Neil - September 8 - 2:00 amI love my A4. Got it for $11,000 a year ago. Just throw a APR chip in it and its a blast to drive. Now its got 200 Hp / 240 lb feet of torque & still gets 30 MPG. Excellent used car to buy. Be sure to do the timing belt before 75K & let the car run for a minute or two to cool the turbo before turning it off. These cars hold up great, still nice and tight with 80K on the odometer. Just change the oil, spend a little extra for mobil 1.

Great A4 - 2002 Audi A4

After getting the complete new Aero kit (first in the USA) put on the car it looks great! I love the Tiptronic, now my wife can enjoy driving a fast car also.

Fun but costly - 2000 Audi A4
By go4th - September 4 - 2:00 amThis is my wifes first new car and I can say with certainty we will not be purchasing an Audi again. This car may be fun to drive but we seem to be constantly taking it in to the shop. In our case the troubles seem to be with the key fob, water pump, headlights, and brakes. The dealership was good while vehicle was under warranty but repairs post warranty are now terribly expensive no matter where we take it. Large acceleration lag when you put your foot down. Cruise control works only occasionally. We will go with something more reliable next time that is also cheaper to maintain.

My model year recd high marks for everything Xcpt suspension these cars crush themselves under their own wght & wear down the assoc parts more quickly. Its a heavy car and it makes a difference in an accident I was broadsided at 35mph I lost my rear passenger door and some trim but wasnt hurt. Interior ergonomics second to none 5-speed auto is silk. Get 30mpg on the highway with the 2.8L. Its prudent to get the timing belt changed much earlier than the rcmmndd mfgr mlge date. These are things that have to be done on any auto anyway.

By murf - August 28 - 2:00 amWe live in snow country with 200 average inches per year so whatever car we bought had to have all wheel drive. No SUVs allowed--Im a sports car fan. The choice was between Suburu and Audi and we did not make a mistake. Even though we are 250 miles from our dealer we have made the scheduled service dates and they have treated us well.

Amazing Car - 2009 Audi A4
By Simon0809 - August 23 - 6:30 pmThis by far has been the best experience in any of the cars I have driven. The car has a lot of speed for a 4 cyl and also it has a sport gear. The interior is really comfortable, and I so far have not had any blind spots! Could not ask for more in a car!

Exellent Car - 1999 Audi A4
By GKR - August 21 - 2:00 amI just purchased this car it only has 38,000 miles on it and I love driving it. Style,comfort,handling is great. I owned prior to this a 1993 Mercedes 190E and this auto does not compare! Only thing I would have liked in the Audi is a CD player it comes with a cassette AM/FM radio, other than that car is GREAT!!!

Control Arms - 1997 Audi A4
By jdoezema - August 19 - 2:00 amThe vehicle was okay until 90,000 miles when it started to have front end problems. The control arms of which there are 8 cost around $3200 to fix. Also, the suspension is costly to get fixed.
