Overview & Reviews
The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.
The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

Too Fun! - 2005 Audi A4
By 05AudiFan - December 19 - 8:33 amMy 2005 Audi A4 1.8T is fantastic! I drove everything from a BMW 330, Acura TL, Infiniti G35, Volvo S60, and Saab 9-3 before settling on the Audi. Its the perfect blend of performance, luxury, and comfort.

This ones good! - 1998 Audi A4
By happy for 8 years - December 16 - 2:00 amBought new 69,000 miles in 5 years. Very few problems, radio replaced, new dash cover, all under warranty. Average 24 mpg in mixed use driving. Ride quality has deteriorated in last 10k miles, rear dampers need replacing. Great highway car relaxed, quiet, very comfortable. V6 power adequate. Dealer experience very favorable (Commonwealth VW/Audi). This is my second A4, and they both have been excellent. None of the repair nightmares so sommon on this list. My cars are very well maintained, and driven sensibly. Bose stereo, drivers seat, and overall interior ambience have kept me enjoying these cars for this long (8 years and 120,000 miles between the two).

Watch out! - 2002 Audi A4
By Unhappy Ken - December 10 - 2:00 amThis car is fun to drive, espically with the CVT. Seating takes some getting used to. The climate control system IS A FAILURE. When cold outside it is hot inside. When the temperature setting is 64 deg.F the cabin stays at 74. This is the LOWEST temperature available. Audi service has tried to fix it at least 5 times and finally concluded that it is "Operating within specification" since ALL of the cars do the same thing. All of them are wrong according to the mechanic. Also experienced many other failures that have been fixed.

Great car - 1999 Audi A4
By jimjud.1 - December 9 - 2:00 amI have driven this 5 speed 2.8 Quatro A4 for almost two years. I love to drive it. It is a very solid car with excellent handling and responsive brakes. The only negatives Ive found so far is the lack of room in the back seat and some maintenance. I did have to have some major work done on the cam and tensioner seals and the rear drive seals. These were covered in my extended warranty. It did take a week to get the parts and have them installed. This was a minor inconvenience to me.

Best ever - 2009 Audi A4
By tom - December 8 - 9:56 pmPurchased my first Audi vehicle two weeks ago and found a terrific car. I have owned Porsches, Mercedes, VW Passat, VW GTI and all that German design and tecnogolgy finally led me to this beautifully appointed sport sedan. Great looking exterior plus a finely finished interior. Everything about the drivers cockpit is wonderfully situated, easy to reach knobs and dials. Beautifully lit at night. Bang & Olufsen stereo blows all other audio systems away. A great option included in the prestige package along with keyless entry, push button start, stop. Side assist, rear alert. Automatic rain sensor and headlights. I picked the color meteor gray which kinda looks either dark blue or black

A4 Avant - Amazing car! - 2001 Audi A4
By Jbrockettm - December 8 - 2:00 amThough a wagon, never feels like one. Handles like a dream. Puts a smile on the face of anyone who gets behind the wheel. Solid, jaunty, nervy car, handles on the curves like no other car on the road. You feel safe driving this thing and you are. Plus, if youre naughty and crank it up past 100, youll see what its all about: shakeless, silent splendor!

Keep my fingers crossed - 1996 Audi A4
By Sharonay - December 6 - 2:00 amIve been only owning this vehicle since Sep 2003. 2 months after I bought it, the thermostat broke down and it made the coolant temp boiling. Luckily I got it fixed at a minimal cost at $147Cdn at a friends garage. I hope it keep away from problems.

Fantastic wagon - 2001 Audi A4
By T-bone - December 6 - 2:00 amThis is the best car I have ever owned. It is practical yet is a total blast to drive. I love whipping around the interstate ramps in this car - it really hunkers down in the twisties with very little body roll noticeable. My wife loves it too. I have a hard time getting her to let me drive it. The optional Bose sound system rocks. It did very well in the snow/ice the past two winters with all-season tires. It is bolted together very tightly - no rattles or squeaks after 2+ years of driving over the terrible St. Louis city roads. Very reliable.

As expected - 2002 Audi A4
By Nuella - December 6 - 2:00 amI work for an VW/Audi dealer so the maintenance "issues" are taken care of immediately, however I did not appreciate the coil going at 3000 miles. I was told the "vender" was having trouble with the new design. I see many more Audis come in on flatbeds than VWs. One thing I can definitely say is its the best car ever in snow which it why I bought the car and also for safety. I have seen many a customer who has literally walked away from accidents that in any other cars would not have. Quattro is a very good system and please do not let anyone tell you that the BMW is the same, it is not ask any mechanic theyll tell you the difference.
