Overview & Reviews
The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.
The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

Happy Wagoner - 2004 Audi A4
By rbenj - February 19 - 10:00 amWanted a versatile do-it-all vehicle (be fun, sporty, stylish, and practical (cargo and winter). Love the design and features (though maybe not the complexity and weight); still undecided about the suspension tuning. I endlessly debated the Sport Package but the stock ride is as firm as I want day-to-day on bad roads, and only in certain situations have I wished that things were more pulled-together. (I think better AWD driving technique would help!) The Avant?s position in space is hard to judge now, but I?m sure I?ll adjust to the dimensions and sightlines over time. 2200 miles/6 months on the car, no problems and no rattles/squeaks.

A4...avoid it like a plague - 2002 Audi A4
By John Taaffe - February 19 - 2:00 amWhen its actually working...its a nice ride. Expect it be in the shop as much as its on the road. I have had this car for 2 years, with less then 28,000 miles...and since the day I drove it off the lot I have had problems with it. Audi ( local and corporate ) will only CONTINUE to fix the car under terms of the warranty. If you are looking a good love/hate relationship with a car..then this is your car!! Otherwise, avoid it like a plague!!!

After two years... - 2002 Audi A4
By G.M., Virginia - February 19 - 2:00 amI ordered my A4 Avant with the Sport Suspension and Summer Performance Tires without being able to test drive one set up that way. What a hoot! The car tracks like its on rails! To the person who complained that the Sport Suspension wasnt a "luxury" ride... DUH! If you want a luxury ride you dont order a Sport Suspension. The Audi A4 Avant handles as well as my wifes BMW (maybe better) and is plenty fast (especially using the tiptronic... which I personally like better than a manual). The car has been 100% reliable and, in my opinion, is one of the best looking cars on the road. Whats not to love?

Good, if not great... - 2001 Audi A4
By AreEmm - February 16 - 2:00 amIve done a variety of driving in this car, (city, highway, long trips), and its always performed nicely. Its fun to drive, feels rock solid, will go through almost anything with Quattro, responds nicely to all driver input and looks great. I wish it got better gas mileage and the interior was more comfortable. The armrest sucks, the cup holders blow, the automatic climate control system is on drugs half the time and the seats are less than luxurious. All that aside, (and those are some minor gripes), i think its a great car. Speaking of minor, the backseat is a joke, but what do i care, i sit up front!

What a Great Car! - 2003 Audi A4
By FunGuy90814 - February 16 - 2:00 amThis is the best car Ive owned, to date. I ordered an Audi A-4 1.8T Quattro with manual transmission from Germany and it was delivered at the end of May 2002. I havent had one problem with this car, not one. The build quality is superb. It handles like a dream (the Quattro is amazing!) and even the gas mileage is excellent. Ive never been happier with a new car. The fact that Audi provides a complete warranty package for the first 4 years or 40,000 miles (which includes oil changes and wiper blades!!!) says something for the way Audi builds quality into their cars.

Do Not Get the Aluminum Decorative Inlay - 2017 Audi A4
By Chris Russell - February 12 - 2:24 amI cant believe Audi came up with this Aluminum thing. When the sun hits it, it gets so glaring. And of course, around midday, the sun will surely hit it because the Audi design is so aerodynamic. This Aluminum thing reminds me of a similar design that Honda came up with about 12 years ago for its Civic. That was glaring too. But Honda dropped it. But Audi caught it and put it on its A4?? So I recommend paying extra for the dark wood or brown wood. About everything else, A4 is completely redesigned. Im quite happy. I may write an update in 6 months.

RECOMMENDED - 1996 Audi A4
By 96A45SPEED - February 11 - 2:00 amI purchased a 96 A4 Quattro with a 5- Speed Trans. I LOVE this car. It is fast enough, yet has the ride youd expect from a $30000 car. It handles great, accelerates well, and also turns heads. The thing to Remember with Audis is this: TAKE CARE OF THEM, AND THEYLL TAKE CARE OF YOU. If you want a car that you dont have to think about, buy a Honda. But, if you like to do maintanence, or just remember to keep up with maintenence, youll have no problems. The Audis one car that once you drive, you may never buy another Kind of car again.

Buyer Beware - 2002 Audi A4
By lemondriver - February 11 - 2:00 amThis Audi is a nightmare. I had a 1999 2.8Q, it was a great car. I wish I had it back. This car has spent a cumlative 2.5 months at the dealer since Dec. 02.A brief list of mechanical issues, ignition coil, 3 Clutches, 2 windshield wiper motors,a incredibly squeaky drivers seat, trunk latch failing while vehicle was being driven, twice. malfunctioning factory cd changer. Audi customer service is non-existent and rude. The car broke down out of state and the local dealer refused to fix it, because they didnt sell the car. I had to pay several hundred dollars in tow charges. Audi refuses to reimburse any of those or rent a car charges. Run away from this car!
