Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

I have owned Audis for 7 years now and this car is definately one of my favorites. Beautiful design, performance, and buid quality. This car is one of the reasons why I will never buy anything but an Audi. There is no better car in the sport wagon segment.

Theres nothing I can say that someone already hasnt covered. Quattro is unbelievable in rain, gravel, snow, and grass (hehe). The acceleration is good, but not stellar. The gas mileage hurts a bit too much for the Quattro though, seeing as how I average 21 mpg on 93 octane. For a compact car Id expect a little better. All in all, if you can afford the gas and want to stick to the road (or whatever surface youre driving on), get the A4Q. The suspension is definitely a problem. Youll just have to get it fixed. It feels good in the city, even better on the freeway, super firm yet comfy enough for long trips. I love my car.

Bought this car new. Loved the looks and how it performed in the snow. However, I spent way too much time at the dealer. Replaced 3 airbags, starter, wheel bearings, tie rods and had repeated "check engine" problems. All the exterior molding fell off and interior was poor quality. Brake handle broke,as well as other interior parts. Spent $31000 for the car and it was not close to being worth it. Did not hold its value and was not impressed with Audi customer service. Bought a new Subaru Legacy and love it.

  • One Test Drive and Youll Be Hooked - 2002 Audi A4

Value to feature content incredible like std in dash 6 disc cd, subwoofer, stability system, dual zone a/c, 6 airbags. Got sports pckg plus sunroof. Rides a bit harsh when road is rough, other than that, I get close to 500 miles on 17 gal tank, and an incredible smooth and quiet ride (3k rpm at 70mph). Cant believe this is only a 1.8 engine. My former BMW cant touch refinement and price/value ratio.

  • The New Top Quality German Marque. - 2003 Audi A4

I tested the same class vehicle of Mercedes and BMW. The Audi, as I perceived it was best i class. The Mercedes was not even close in handling acceleration and overall sporty feel. The BMW was a close second very similar in handling & acceleration but the quality of fit and finish were not up to the Audis. I had to look trough many of the 300 series before finding one that was close. So overall in my opinion The audi has come a long way in every aspect. The BMW has slipped a bit in quality, still a fine car. The Mercedes was actually disappointing for such a costly entry level sedan. There you have it...One mans opinion, three fine cars.

Just got my car less than a month ago and it is pretty much impossible to get me to stop driving it! It is a really fun car to drive and I was much more impressed with it than I was the BMW 3 series.

  • Stay Away From Audi - 2000 Audi A4
    By -

Having owned an Audi it is the worst car buying experience I have ever had. Dont buy an Audi and stay away from Flemington Audi. The technicians dont know how to diagnose or repair a problem without you bringing it in multiple times. Audi themselves, dont stand behind their cars. The build quality is extremely poor. I have had the same problems everyone else has experienced. The service area told me that German cars have a lot of electrical problems and I have had more than my fair share. The quality of parts going into the cars is the main issue. What ever you do dont buy an Audi!

  • Audi A4, great car - 2001 Audi A4

I love in Colorado where the quattro is very nice to have. I have just over 45,000 miles on my A4 and it has been very reliable. The only problem I have had is with the drivers side window whistling a bit. After 3 trips to the dealer, it was finally fixed, under warranty. Other than that, I absolutely love the car and plan to purchase it when it comes off of lease in August 2005.

  • So far so good.... - 2004 Audi A4

Ive owned mine for about two months and really love it so far. I can get tons in it, put my bikes on top and drive it hard in the corners like a sports sedan. What SUV drives like this?? Just wish it got a bit better MPG around town..im getting 17-19, but have heard it improves over time.

  • Here we go again - 2006 Audi A4

I had a 2003 TT. Great car to drive, but reliability was terrible. With only 6700 miles everything went wrong. Well I deceided to try Audi again. Only one week old and the memory seats dont work. Hello Audi. They make a great driving car and thats it. Reliability is horrible. The current clutch is also a disaster. It has no definite grip point
