Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Still Holding Up - 1998 Audi A4

Ive had this car for three years and its held up fairly well. My only problems so far have been a broken switch for the right rear window, faulty door seals in the left rear that allowed water to leak in when it rained hard, and the headlight sprayer hose caused a leak to the washer fluid reservoir. Other than that this car has been fantastic. It handles well, still gets compliments on its looks, and the FWD version (which is a few hundred lbs lighter than Quattro) is fast enough to pass anyone I want, even in 5th gear on the highway. Ive got 93000 miles now and I plan to drive this car into the ground:)

  • Audi 1.8T Experience - 2003 Audi A4

Purchased 2003 A4 1.8T last month. The turbo lag is very noticeable. Almost had an accident because the Audi hesitated while accelerating from a stop sign. The gears grind when shifted into Drive in the morning. Car has 29,000 miles. Glad I got a CPO vehicle, certified up to 100K miles or 2009. I knew not to expect a flawless vehicle from Audi. I do love the handling and looks of the car. Blk on Blk looks great, with 17 inch wheels. I get a lot of compliments, as Im the only A4 owner in town. If you can spare extra $3K, buy the 3.0. I wish I had.

  • Best Car Ive Ever Owned! - 2005 Audi A4
    By -

This car is loaded with so many options! I got Dolphin grey, Ebony interior, Premium package, lighting package, sport package, audio package. It is so much fun to drive and the gas mileage is amazing for the amount of horsepower the car has. The fit and finish is beyond my expectations!

  • Doesnt get any better!!! - 2005 Audi A4
    By -

Have had any number of converts over the years, and have two other Audis currently (2004 All Road and 2005 A6 4.2) this is the one that I cant wait to get into.....even on a really cold day, as long as its not snowing (I live in New Mexico). The stability of the 4xdrive and the 3.0 make is a total blast to hit the high road. I can even get 4 people in it. Cant wait for real summer! Just buy one!!!

Drives great, lost of fun to drive with the top down. Looks great in black with tan interior. Small leg room in the back seat, but still comfortable.

  • A Bargain at this price - 2005 Audi A4
    By -

A great car, powerful, plush, fun to drive and a relative bargain compared to the BMW 325xi it replaced. A great blend of performance, luxury, technology and rock steady handling. Best thing is that it doesnt seem to be afected by weather or road conditions as it drives the same in bad weather, bad roads or any conbination of the two. Understated looks but stands out since nothing else looks like it. I love this car.

  • A4 CONVERTIBLE A WINNER - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

ITS THE MOST COMFORTABLE AND BEST HANDLING CAR I HAVE EVER DRIVEN. WISH IT WAS AVALIBLE IN A STICK BUT TIPTRONIC IS NOT BAD. 1.8T ENGINE IS A LITTLE UNDER POWERED WHEN A/C IS ON. OTHERWISE THE CAR IS VERY QUICK.

  • Better than a BMW - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

BMW owners say that they are superior because BMW just make BMWs where Audi is just a glorified Volkswagon. Doesnt BMW also make the Mini? The only thing that the Volkswagon has in common with the Audi A4 is that they are made in Germany. I have test drove a BMW before I got my Audi and the BMW is outdated and cannot handle corners or any sports driving. If you want a car that is smooth, updated, classy and fast, get the A4!

  • Happy but not Overjoyed - 2003 Audi A4

Overall I think this car is very competent. The car sticks to the road like glue, but lacks "whiplash" acceleration.

  • Total Package - 2003 Audi A4

I looked for a long time and drove many cars before I decided on the A4. Sure the IS300 and the BMW may be a little quicker 0-60, but I wanted a car that was more than speed. I feel that when you jump to this level of car that it should deliver in all categories. The Audi does that. I have always been told that for the best ride and handling, you must go with a German car. I have not been disappointed. I chose the Audi over the BMW for two reasons. The interior styling and bang for your buck. I feel that the Audi gives you a better value for your dollar. Also my experience with the service department has been great.
