Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Sublime ride and handling quality - 2003 Audi A4

Successfull marriage of good sport and luxury sedan. Suprisingly responsive 6V engine with adrenalin pumping sound and sublime handling and ride quality. Very comfortable and ergonomic all four seats, superior suspension system. Ride on snow or slippery road easy due to Quattro. Have never seen better interior detail quality. Exterior and interior design fully gimmickry free, feature-function oriented, typical Audi evergreen rounded surfaces with proper modern touch. Fan to drive, 100% problem free for three months. Escellent Bose sound system.

  • Exceeds my expectations ! - 2003 Audi A4

I have found few negatives in the 1.8T Avant. It has great room, yet it is amazing for traction and handling. Mileage has also exceeded the stated EPA numbers. There are no quality or workmanship concerns. Its leather interior is first class and so far it is without rattles or squeaks. The 1.8T engine is surprisingly smooth and quick. It has a distinct engine/exhaust noise that enhances its "sports sedan" classification.

  • Quick, Great Handling, and Reliable - 1999 Audi A4

(currently 48000 miles) The car accelerates fast and when the turbo kicks in it takes off, especially above 3500 RPM. I like the gearing (5- spd manual) as first gear is long enough that I usually dont have to shift mid-corner when turning after a stop sign/light. The interrior is comfortable (leather) with many adjustments for seat location and the audio system is well done. The airbag warning light has illuminated twice since I bought it for seemingly no reason, after taking it to a dealer they said nothing was wrong and turned it off, so not a big problem. The car runs great every time I start it and is very reliable. I highly recommend a GIAC ecu flash to improve performance.

  • transmission problem - 2002 Audi A4

I bought an Audi A-4 in jan 2002. Just after that the A/C pressure switch went out, I had to get it replaced. Next, the transmission went out. I had to take the car back no less than three times. The dealer replaced the transmission but the car still does not run smooth, the transmission makes a loud sound when I put the car into gear. I guess I will have to take it back again. Also, the brake light went out. I should have bought a mercedes

Test drove a Sebring conv the week before I pick this one up and there is no comparison. The Sebring had alot of cowl shake. The A4 conv is just rock solid. A4 is worth the higher price.

  • A great car, when it works - 1998 Audi A4

First of all I would like to say that overall, Ive had pretty good luck with this car considering all of the problems items Ive read about in other reviews. It has great interior and exterior styling, rides nice, and coupled with good tires, the AWD is awesome for the New England winters. But If you are going to purchase an earlier year Audi, 3 conditions must be met. 1- make sure you are under some kind of warranty 2- If not, make sure you are handy with a wrench (many of the problem items can be fixed yourself). 3- if you cant fix it yourself, find a good mechanic as the dealer repair costs are horrible.

  • My first convertible - 2005 Audi A4

After deciding to spring for my first convertible it didnt take long to see that Audi had engineered a great package with the A4 Cabriolet. It feels solid on the road. The V-6 has plenty of juice to merge into traffic, and the styling is subtle but elegant. And, you dont see yourself coming and going on the road. Its taken 9 months before I finally passed myself on the interstate. For my 61" linebacker frame, I wasnt sure I could find a convertible I felt comfortable in, but the A4 Cab. has one of the most comfortable and supportive cabins out there if your a big guy like me. The top operation is flawless and road noise is much less than I thought. All in all, a great convertible!
