Model Overview:

The Audi A4 holds the distinction of having single-handedly revived the Audi brand. Launched in the mid-'90s, the compact A4 quickly became a favorite among luxury car buyers thanks to its beautifully finished cabin, sharp handling and available Quattro all-wheel drive. Although the A4 has offered these core characteristics from day one, it has become increasingly polished and high-tech with each successive generation. No matter which year you're looking at, the A4 promises both engaging performance and suave style inside and out.

The sedan body style has been a constant for the Audi A4, but depending on the vintage, you may also find wagon and convertible variants. Turbocharged four-cylinder power is typically found under the hood, yielding both reasonably spirited acceleration and satisfactory fuel economy. In road tests, we've consistently praised the A4's refined character, with more recent plaudits going to its spacious backseat, which has adequate room for full-size adults.

  • Love my audi - 2005 Audi A4

It reminds me a lot of the 1980 VW Scirocco with 14 pound callaway turbo I had in high school. Its amazingly fun to drive and handles great for the price. I highly recommend it.

  • Excellent Car! - 1999 Audi A4

This is a great car, and it cost much less than its competitors. Its built solidly, looks beautiful, has no problems (yet), and is a great handling machine with the quattro. The only downside was its original 150 hp engine, but a modest chip upgrade changed that. It now has around 195 hp which is more than sufficient for its 3200 lbs curb weight.

  • A Good Car, A Strong Car, A Good Choice - 2001 Audi A4

A petite car with the power of a bulldozer. Its a car to drive when you want to pass another going uphill, downhill, and, any other way you need to drive safely and quickly; To feel it grip the road on icy, waterey, snowy roads youll immediately be thankful for selecting a car with AWD- its an awesome feel of safety, comfort and security.

  • So far so good - 2007 Audi A4

Start with the engine - 2.0 liter mated to the 6 spd and the Quattro drive... astonishing torque and smoothness for the size. Turbo lag is virtually eliminated with DFI. Low end grunt is not awesome, but its not to be expected. The exterior is a matter of taste - I love the design. Interior is very quiet, comfortable, well appointed.

  • OVER 160K AND THE CAR JUST WONT DIE - 1996 Audi A4

I loved the style of the A4, smaller then the A6, its a little more nimble then the bigger Audi cars in the line up. I have a limited GOLD package that was offered in 3 different colors only, black, green, and white. This car has just about every option available, heated leather seats, sunroof, BOSE audio, QUATTRO, ski bag, heated washer nozzles, alloy rims, everything! Plus a nice slick shifting 5spd to add to the fun. The car has 166k and the damn thing just wont give up, the engine hums and the famed AWD is near flawless in any weather condition, luxury, style, and class appeal are very noticable in this car, not to mention its made for all year round weather. Id buy another 10 audi/vws

  • Dont Buy an Audi - 2004 Audi A4

My Audi has serious electrical problems (every headlight, tail light, turn signal and now the regulator which controls my power window - $350 to replace - has been replaced at least once) and Audi USA and the dealer dont seem to care. I get "it happens to every car" - not any that I owned in the past (Japanese). Theyre great looking cars and fun to drive, but need too much up-keep for the price. Think of something else before purchasing unless you dont mind dishing out hundreds of $$$ every couple months on things that should never go wrong let alone within the first couple months of owning a brand new, showroom floor car.

  • Fun to drive - not fun to own - 1998 Audi A4

I had purchased this car believing that Audi had a decent quality car in the A4. Wrong, bought in Feb 2002 and nothing but quality problems. Cruise control died, tires were not balanced (dealer), sunroof opened by itself, airbag sensor died, recall on tie rods had to be done, turbo died, center armrest kept dropping, and when I was getting rid of it the cruise was in the process of dying yet again. However, when it was running correctly it was one of the nicest, well mannered front wheel drives that I have driven (hence the purchase). The doors and the chassis are real solid. Dealer was good about it and put me in a BMW 323 reasonably.

I love driving this car. It has a great feel and handles very well on back country roads.

  • Bye Bye BMW - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

Expired lease on BMW X5 4.4 had me longing for a small sports car with better (although not great) mileage. Since I dont often carry passengers the A4 seemed perfect. I am in love already after 1 week. 6 speed manual, great on curves, and easy on the eyes. Everything just right, and the dealer and salesman were just about the best Ive ever deal with. Quoted their costs (correctly) and honored web prices.
