  • Not Worth It! Too many issues... - 2005 Acura TL

The 2005 Acura TL is a sharp looking car but has way too many issues. Every time we dont use the car for 2-3 days it dies. Terrible reliability. I do not reccomend this car.

If you are considering purchasing one of these vehicles I would suggest passing. Build quality, particularly interior components, is very poor, many squeaks, rattles, very un Honda like. I cant keep tires on the car. With 40K on the car, I am now on my third set. Although this is more sporty than the earlier version, ride quality is harsh, the car sits too low to the ground and is just not well built. I am a loyal Acura/ Honda owner however I cant recommend this car.

We have owned 3 Acuras all purchased new. We will not be purchasing a fourth. Tires on TL wore out after 24,000 miles. Rust on brakes had to be scraped after less than 18,000 miles, not covered by warranty. Passenger side window opens but will not always close. Acura Service tells us it will be $545 to fix. Window service is outside warranty period. There has been no damage to the vehicle that would cause the window malfunction. This is not what you would expect from a company that prides itself in building quality products.

  • Problems - 2005 Acura TL

Simply put: The worst car experience I ever had. Brakes went @ 14,000 miles, tires @ 17,500, trouble shifting from 2nd to 3rd (transmission), wiper motor replaced, 3rd set of tires, 3rd set of brakes, recalls, numerous other headaches. to many to write about. I spent more time at the dealer than work. 17 mph city/ 20 mph highway

  • Car for age 25 and below - 2005 Acura TL

I just bought a TL 2005 with nav on April 19, just to trade it in within 15 days. Probably because I am not 25 years old but 36. The TLs sporty ride was probably not my kind. I like the ride of the lexus ES and the new Toyota Avalon. No doubt that the TL interior is absolutely gorgeous. I had a black with camel interior. I was so worried to keep it clean that I would tell my 2 daughters to sit tight in the car, which I felt was inappropriate. What fun is a car if you have to put taboos on your kids. The seats are hard and uncomfortable. The gas mileage seemed horrible. I bought a Honda Pilot LX with leather for my wife on April 02. I am very happy to trade in the TL for another Honda Pilot.

  • Rides too hard-Its that simple - 2005 Acura TL

I liked the technology( navigation & xm radio) BUT no ease of entry (wife couldnt reach door handle to close door from a seating position) tires were flat spotted for 3-5 miles from a resting position, engine & road noise was excessive. & ABOVE all the car gave me a ride like my "little red wagon" minus shocks & springs. Just traded for a lexus LS

  • Love It and Hate It! - 2005 Acura TL

The car design is extremely stylish. I love the exterior design. The seating is not made for comfort, the front seats are uncomfortable for long periods, After four months of ownership, creaks and rattles came from the interior. The car has several serious blind spots. My main complaint is with the transmission. It slips upon acceleration, jerks when you drop from 55 to 40 (not by braking, but by taking your foot off the gas) and my top frustration with the transmission, the differential whines when driving and sounds as if you are driving a truck, rather than a TLC (total luxury car)

  • Acura should be ashamed... - 2005 Acura TL

Owner of 1 Honda & 1 Acura, used to love their products, but now, not so much. Heres a list of the problems I had with a Brand New 2005 Acura TL, the car has 9000 miles right now: -Replaced Heat Shield, Intermediate Shaft,Audio Unit, Rear Deck -Seized Calipers, Warped Rotors -Transmission Problems since the car had 1000 miles on it, had to have that replaced. -Rattles all over the place inside the car, really annoying to have to listen to while driving. -Acura Customer Service Is Pretty PATHETIC!! They dont help at all. OVERALL: BEST LOOKING CAR ON THE ROAD RIDE QUALITY OK BUILD QUALITY HORRIBLE TRANSMISSIONS STILL HAVE PROBLEMS TOO MANY RATTLES CUSTOMER SERVICE HORRIBLE

  • Awesome design bad build quality - 2005 Acura TL

This car is a rattle box. I love it when I look at it, but when it comes to driving, you hear rattle noise coming from everywhere. At 4000 miles, Navigation, airbag and door frame trims replaced. The footprint of airbag showed up on the dashboard. Japanese designed an awesome car but executives chose the cheapest suppliers for parts in US or where ever parts come from. It is a fantastic looking car, especially with 18 inch graphite color Acura rims, it is a shame that it was so cheaply built.

  • Still has some serious shortcomings - 2005 Acura TL

Although the car has a great engine and sound system it does have some serious shortcomings.... there are many rattles and the tires still are not fixed like Honda has told the dealers.
