  • Tires are a Problem - 2005 Acura TL

The Turanza EL42 tires are significantly sub-standard in my experience. At 15k, tires were bald. Dealership kindly replaced tires. However, subsequently the vehicle had vibrations. The Service Department indicated the vibrations were caused by the new tires. Others on Tirerack.com have indicated the tires have flat spots (causes vibrations), poor handling in snow or rain and premature tread wear. Dealership and Customer Service have not offered any solutions other than for me to accept the vibrations as a character of the car. I am still in disbelief that Honda/Acura finds this acceptable.

This car is a rattle trap. If you dont mind all the rattles you will be fine however there are many problems with the newer TLs. Wouldnt buy another Acura and this is my 2nd TL - love my 99.

  • Poor Customer Service - 2005 Acura TL

Beware of the "Parchment" leather interior. I wore a suede jacket and it stained the leather on the drivers seat. My sales associate never mentioned this problem, but it appears that the service personnel are aware of it. I recommmend not wearing any dark clothing (especially denim and leather products) with light leather interiors, such as Parchment. This problem was presented to my dealer and Acura Customer Service, and both basically told me it was my problem. My TL has only 2500 miles on it, so I was a bit surprised. Acura needs to work on improving its customer service and standing behind its product if it ever wants my business again.

  • Shake, rattle and roll - 2005 Acura TL

Ive had this car for nearly a year now. The car performs very well and the interior noise level has been a pleasant surprise. Gas mileage has been "ok". Overall, however, Ive had a fair number of disappointments. First day I got the car, the hood would not shut properly. Worst of all, the car shakes when I go above 55mph when the tires are cold. Rear leather seat had to be replaced at 3000 miles due to excessive wear marks. Due to all of these quality issues, I ended up keeping my much older Nissan Maxima. Hopefully, Acura will iron out these kinks in the next few years.

  • Frustration - 2005 Acura TL

My fifth Acura and this is the first with a major problem. Randomly, when starting the car, the exterior temp display goes blank and the temperature settings go crazy. Twice, I have had a dead battery, first time at 1000 miles, and this car stays in the garage. Dealer replaced the original battery but had another dead battery three weeks later at 3000 miles. Guess Ill be working through exercising the "Lemon Law" and hope the dealer responds favorably.

  • 4.5 Months and 12,000 Miles Later....... - 2005 Acura TL
    By -

I drive 65 miles each way every day in my commute. This is hands down the most fun car I have owned for a combination of highway and country driving. The fit and finish are unequalled. The driver response is superb. This car gives me all I could want. Last Friday, I had to "put it down" hard as an opposing driver fell asleep and drove through 2 utility poles coming towards me. I went from 50MPH to O in 30 ft., traveling off dry pavement through mud and into a neighboring grass lawn coated in thick dew. It tracked straight with no "yaw", and it stopped on a dime.

  • Excellent Compromise Sedan - 2005 Acura TL

If you are too big for the Infiniti G35 cabin, yet want a performing sedan with high reliability, this is the car. Its not a rear driver, the auto selectshift isnt as good as std trans performance, but its a freeway cruiser for everyday tasks and fun to drive. Suspension is a bit too firm, and the automatic slows after 85 when punched to pass and the tires arent what they could have been if you got the Bridgestones, the seats are set a bit too low to get out of the car easily, and there are cabin area rattles sometimes. But nobody seems to have a better car on the market within 10 grand more with such roomy front cabin. And the electronics & sound are sweet.

  • Love it but rattles drive me nuts - 2005 Acura TL
    By -

Ive had my TL for 16 months now and enjoy the car, except for all the ratles. I had a 2000 BMW 323i before my TL and it never had rattles. I have rattles in my driver side door, in the sun visors, and around the moon roof. I didnt expect that from Acura. On the plus side the car is very well equipped for the money. The engine is strong and smooth and the handling is tight for a front wheel drive.

  • Very Good Deal For The Money - 2005 Acura TL
    By -

You get a lot of useful things in the Acura TL that all come standard that would normally be extra on competitor models. Very good power and control in everday driving, although on snow or slick surfaces the car lacks control at times. Navigation System is superb, as well as the overall look of the interior. Exterior is very smooth too. Interior quality has been questionable as Ive had quite a handful of rattles, and part of the headline covering the rear center brake light is coming off. Seat leather is so/so in quality, although comfort is very supportive in the front seats, but real not so much especially on long trips. Although, You really do get a lot from this vehicle from you money.

  • Nice upgrade from Honda - 2005 Acura TL
    By -

Ive now had the car for 4 months and am enjoying more each and every day. The car looks great, the performance meets my expectations and the mileage is what they stated it would be. Being a 6 time Honda owner, I was reluctant about the extra cost but am very pleased with my decision to buy the TL. No complaints about having to use premium gas as high performance engines require higher octane. There shouldnt be a concern about paying 20 cents more per gallon if your paying $35K for a car. Considered the G35 and BMW 3 series and am very happy with my decision.
