This Year's Model Updates:

A number of interior, exterior and mechanical updates were made for 2004. The V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. Outside, you'll find a restyled front fascia, new chrome trim, dual exhaust tips, a new wheel design for Touring models, updated headlights and taillights and a rear wing spoiler. The interior now features trendy brushed metal-look trim for the center stack, leather armrests, auto-on/off headlights, new ambient foot lighting and enhanced functionality of the second-row seat for third-row access. Touring models get a new version of the Bose premium audio system and power lumbar support for the driver seat. Finally, safety has been improved on all MDXs with the addition of side curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Pros:
  • Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores, low price.
Cons:
  • Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

Traded my 2001 MDX in for this car...wanted the Navi system. Loved my 2001, love the 2004. Good color choices, both interior and exterior. Handles beautifully, quiet interior, good power. Lots of room for my kids and my big dog. Rear camera is a great feature. I do miss the sunglasses holder that was in the 2001 version. Cant have everything!

I purchased the MDX on Aug 2002. I was blown away how amazeing this suv was. When the mdx first came out in 01 i knew that that was the suv that i wanted... I went to baysore acura and said i was the siver mdx, I didnt even test drive it once.... Just knowing the reputation of honda i knew it would be an amazeing SUV. Ive had it since 2002 and not one problem with the mdx, and i now have 40,000. I recomed this suv to every one..... the Navigation is the best i have seen so far. thumbs up to HONDA.

Everything is great with my 04 mdx except one annoying problem. Excessive muffler noise @ low RPM.

  • Acura MDX - Best Choice for under $45K - 2004 Acura MDX

I test drove the BMW X5, Volvo, RX 330 and Infiniti Fx 45. For the price, safety features and options that I wanted (esp. 3rd seat option), the Acura MDX 2004 was the Only choice. The Acura offers the best performance, comfort & convenience for the value and total cost of ownership in mind.

  • Crash tested with flying colors - 2004 Acura MDX

I love my MDX - it makes me feel really safe when I drive it. Id had it 3 months with 4K miles when another driver crossed the median and hit me head on (he was uninsured, but thats another story). All the airbags deployed - front, side curtain, passenger. Other than a slightly burned hand from the deploying airbags, and the accompanying muscle aches and pains, I walked away in one piece. All the safety features, including the airbags, did their thing, absorbing the impact. My next vehicle will definitely be another MDX.

  • Love my MDX! - 2004 Acura MDX

I am not a car enthusiasist, but I love the MDX! Drove it 1600 miles shortly after getting it & it performed well & was very comfortable (even for my 65" husband who hates cramped spaces). I like it too because although it is attractive -- it isnt showy. Weve never owned an Acura before, but I suspect this is not our last one! (PS - our golden retriver loves any vehicle, but our little "uppity" dogs even love it!)

    Great Car all around

  • GOOD COLLEGE KID CAR - 2004 Acura MDX
    By -

The car is excellent for a child going off to college and not knowing the area. The navigation system is very handy and the pressure sensitive tires have an icon that idicated when the tire pressure it low. Though, keep in mind just because the pressure is low doesnt mean there is a nail in the tire. The only fault I would have to say is the camera which comes on the navigation screen when you back up. Objects are closer then they appear and ill just leave it at that.

  • One Great "SUV" - 2004 Acura MDX

This vehicle rides and handles like a luxury car. It is a great value because it comes with so many standard features. It was $8,000.00 less than a Lexus GX470 & the BMW X5. Seats are extremely confortable and the navigation system is user friendly. a joy to drive everyday. The dealer options available really dress this vehicle up.
