This Year's Model Updates:

A number of interior, exterior and mechanical updates were made for 2004. The V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. Outside, you'll find a restyled front fascia, new chrome trim, dual exhaust tips, a new wheel design for Touring models, updated headlights and taillights and a rear wing spoiler. The interior now features trendy brushed metal-look trim for the center stack, leather armrests, auto-on/off headlights, new ambient foot lighting and enhanced functionality of the second-row seat for third-row access. Touring models get a new version of the Bose premium audio system and power lumbar support for the driver seat. Finally, safety has been improved on all MDXs with the addition of side curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Pros:
  • Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores, low price.
Cons:
  • Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

We took this vehicle from Coatesville, PA to Portland Maine right out of the box. It performed perfectly. The Nav. system came in real handy when our sons flight was cancelled and we went from Portland ME to Boston to pick him up.$41500 including 6% PA. sales tax. Not cheap but worth it. You sit higher than the mini van but the ride is stiffer.

The best SUV on the market. This is our second MDX in the family. We laso have a 2002 MDX Tour & Nav and was extremely happy. Thats why we went out and got another one. We purchased the 2004 MDX tour, nav, and dvd ent in aspen pearl white. Amazingly, honda/acura managed to improve on previous models with more power, smoother ride, better handling, and sportier design. And the numerous toys to play with inside amaze me. Great suv!! They managed to squeeze four disc players into the suv (Nav DVD player, 6 disc cd changer, single disc in dash cd player, and DVD movie player... Awesome. Oh yeah, rear view camera is cool too.

I have a 2003 MDX it is ecxellent. I love it very much, and i am happy with it. Although after a while sitting on it it isnt so comfortable. And if your haul around all of the seven it can fit its not so comfortable.

THIS IS THE BEST CAR I HAVE EVER OWNED AND DRIVEN. TRADED A CADY DEVILLE FOR THE MDX AND IT RIDES AND HANDLES MUCH BETTER THAN THE CADDY. GREAT PICK UP,ACCELERATION AND HANDLES LIKE A SPORTS CAR.

I traded my 2001 MDX in for the 2004. What a difference 3 years makes. The MDX drives better, is faster, more responsive and more comfortable then the 2001. The kids love the entertainment system.

Very satisfied owner after 18 months. Great combination of utility, quality, performance, and reliability. Recently completed a long holiday trip in inclement weather, which highlighted this vehicles value proposition---car handled great, giving the driver (me) reassuring confidence, while four other family members stretched out comfortably to snooze, leaving room to spare for holiday luggage/gifts. No regrets thus far on this purchase.

  • Best SUV Ive owned - 2004 Acura MDX

We purchased our 2004 MDX w/touring new for 41 grand(about $900 under MSRP). It has been a wonderful vehicle, with a powerful engine, a spacious, functional, and quality built interior. It is very family friendly, with a complaint ride and many cupholders and storage areas. The driving dynamics are also impressive, with balanced steering (though not X5 level) and sporty handling. I have just 1 problem with the MDX. Its interior may be high quality, but lacks some of the classy-look of the BMW X5. The AWD will make for a sure friend, and the MDX handles much better on snow than Lexus RX330. Throw in a bargain price, and its easily a better buy than the X5, RX, or Pilot which I test drove.

I have to admit. This is my first SUV, and it is the best on the market by far. I have had no issues, no complaints, and dealer service as been good as well. Buyers of SUVs should evaluate before purchasing, since it took me 3 months to decide between the Lexus RX, the MDX, and the Pilot. The MDX has the best overall performance, features, turning radius and off road ability as comparable to the Pilot. If a person would like to have simple styling, then go with the Pilot. Better exterior styling then go with the MDX, which was the deciding factor for me.

Been through six cars since 1993, last vehicle was repurchased from mfg as a lemon. I have to say this is the best so far. Of course, the technology has gotten better, but this car combines the best of SUV/auto and sacrifices little except for gas mileage. Great acceleration, quiet and solid with no squeaks/rattles or cheezy interior plastics. The stock rims are a little lame for the this price bracket, but they kind of grow on you and wont attract too much attention. Even with few suggestions for improvements, we are very pleased with our purchase and would recommend this vehicle.
