Overview & Reviews
A number of interior, exterior and mechanical updates were made for 2004. The V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. Outside, you'll find a restyled front fascia, new chrome trim, dual exhaust tips, a new wheel design for Touring models, updated headlights and taillights and a rear wing spoiler. The interior now features trendy brushed metal-look trim for the center stack, leather armrests, auto-on/off headlights, new ambient foot lighting and enhanced functionality of the second-row seat for third-row access. Touring models get a new version of the Bose premium audio system and power lumbar support for the driver seat. Finally, safety has been improved on all MDXs with the addition of side curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
- Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores, low price.
- Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

Great Value - 2004 Acura MDX
By mca_kirk - July 18 - 2:00 amIncomparable value; real competitors want $5-10 more; MANY standard features that are available only as options on competing vehicles.

Acura MDX - 2004 Acura MDX
By jyork - July 14 - 10:00 amVery satisfied with car. It meets my needs and knowing Acura quality I own with confidence. Good handling vehicle, pleasant to drive. Since I am 75 years old I enjoy the ride and the way it handles.

It is OK - 2004 Acura MDX
By Joanne Melanson - June 12 - 2:00 amDesign flaw in retractable front seat belts causes the belts to snap back too quickly and hit the door jamb. The result is small nicks on the door casing that will only get worse as the car ages. Tape over the area helps diminish this problem. Fuel economy is not good on local travel but ok on highway. Third seat is useless.

Quality SUV - 2004 Acura MDX
By acuraguy - June 5 - 2:00 amSolid performance and handling.Superb fit and finish with good attention to detail. Fake Interior woodgrain on the doors detracts from an attracitve package. Much more room than the Lexus 330, Caddy SRX and BMW. Better value than anything in the class.

Love it, but a little disappointed - 2004 Acura MDX
By Quiet Please - April 19 - 10:00 amMy 2004 is great! The ride, luxury, and roominess are better than any other I tried. However, unexpectedly it is the noisiest quiet vehicle. It is 7 months and it has the following noises: front caliper pop, rear breaks make a clunk noise when I change direction, they also make a loud rubbing noise during the first 10 min. of operation every day (all of this according to the dealer is normal). The NAV system controls on the steering wheel dont work 20% of the time. All this is not to say that I dont like my MDX. I do like it very much. Its just not perfect, which for the money I would have expected it to come a little closer.

Its the best SUV - 2004 Acura MDX
By Tabasco - December 23 - 10:00 amThis is the best SUV on the market. Here are my only complaints: The switch for the sunroof is located to the left of the drivers wheel. Passenger can not control the sunroof. The other annoying thing is the clock, located on the radio which most times is not readable. They should either locate it in the instrument cluster or make it bright so I dont need glasses to see the time. It would be nice to make a time button on the Navigation screen.

I love this car! - 2004 Acura MDX
By jorvette - October 29 - 2:00 amWhile only owning the MDX for a week, I am already in love with this vehicle. It handles very well, is comfortable (I took a 1000 mile trip this weekend) and gets good mileage for a vehicle its size. i would recommend it to anyone.

The Greatest SUV Ive Ever Owned - 2004 Acura MDX
By Acura Lover - September 22 - 2:00 amBetter than the X5 I used to own. Were planning to get a second one when my wifes Volvo X70 lease is up. The kids love the room and enjoy the option of having their own row with the seven passenger seating. The performance and handling on the MDX is like a fine performance car. The four wheel drive is seemless and the gas mileage blows my former X5 away. I had to wait for the MDX since its the most popular SUV in its class, but trust me, its so worth it. Dollar for dollar, you just cant beat it. It has features that come standard that the X5 just couldnt touch. If youre in NJ, definitely go to DCH Montclair Acura.
