This Year's Model Updates:

A number of interior, exterior and mechanical updates were made for 2004. The V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. Outside, you'll find a restyled front fascia, new chrome trim, dual exhaust tips, a new wheel design for Touring models, updated headlights and taillights and a rear wing spoiler. The interior now features trendy brushed metal-look trim for the center stack, leather armrests, auto-on/off headlights, new ambient foot lighting and enhanced functionality of the second-row seat for third-row access. Touring models get a new version of the Bose premium audio system and power lumbar support for the driver seat. Finally, safety has been improved on all MDXs with the addition of side curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.

Pros:
  • Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores, low price.
Cons:
  • Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

Have owned various Acuras since the 1986 Legend and they all have been good for 150,000 miles plus. Reliability is a big factor. The current MDX replaces a Ford Explorer, 1999 and the change is monumental. There are a few areas where the interior could be a little more user friendly, but overall, it is a joy to drive.

  • Great SUV...not a performance car - 2004 Acura MDX

I am happy I bought this vehicle. I traded a 2002 Mercedes 320C in on it. Thus, I realize the ride will not be a performance car ride...and I also understand this vehicle has a lot to offer for the $. The ride is a little bumpy, but the pick up, goodies added and over-all comfort more than make up for that. I compared the Lexus RX330 to this and thought both were great. However, this ride was more for the $.

Test drove a good number of SUVs. This Acura SUV got my attention because of all its safety features, good looking body style, very good gas mileage, good Bose audio sound, and nicely powered 265 HP engine which makes it fun to drive with some pep. Interior audio controls as well as somewhat complicated NAV system the only knock

  • Smooth drivng SUV - 2004 Acura MDX

The Acura MDX is a fun to drive, it rides so smooth its like driving a smooth riding car. You dont feel like your driving a SUV becauses it low to the ground. The interior design is great, it even has a camera on the tail so when you are in reverse the screen were the navigator system is will show you what is behind. It has a voice activiated system for the navigator so you dont have to push any bottoms when you need driving directions. It has room for 7. Its worth the price.

Pure Value sums up every Acura Ive ever owned...Integra, 3.2 TL, MDX! We love them! Fun to drive, service second-to-none, resale that other manufactures envy, reliability unlike any other product I own. ...Its like driving glass when you are behind the wheel!

I feel totally secure when driving in the worst weather--this MDX is a dream come true. It hugs the road, has a touch of luxury, and is absolutely reliable.

  • The interior should be higher qlty. - 2004 Acura MDX

I have enjoyed owning and driving this car. Its a great vehicle. My disappointments are in the suggested improvements section. Paying sticker was painful. The gas mileage could be better. I get 17/mpg. Defrost gives off a musty smell in summer.

  • mdx ride - 2004 Acura MDX

Recently, I woke up late for my flight. It entailed a fast ride to the airport. At speeds of 80-90 mph I really experienced the true handling of this vehicle. It was pure peformance. The engine purred and the ride was tight and really tracked to the road. For an SUV it was unbelievable. This really is a great vehicle.

  • Best SUV in class - 2004 Acura MDX
    By -

This is the best SUV on the market, feature for feature, dollar for dollar! There are more expensive SUVs! SUVs with more snob appeal, but that dont feed the Bulldog! They cannot carry hardly anything internally or compare with the Hondas ULEV motor! I would not trade mine which I use as a commercial vehicle for any other SUV on the market!
