Overview & Reviews
A number of interior, exterior and mechanical updates were made for 2004. The V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. Outside, you'll find a restyled front fascia, new chrome trim, dual exhaust tips, a new wheel design for Touring models, updated headlights and taillights and a rear wing spoiler. The interior now features trendy brushed metal-look trim for the center stack, leather armrests, auto-on/off headlights, new ambient foot lighting and enhanced functionality of the second-row seat for third-row access. Touring models get a new version of the Bose premium audio system and power lumbar support for the driver seat. Finally, safety has been improved on all MDXs with the addition of side curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
- Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores, low price.
- Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

Its the best SUV - 2004 Acura MDX
By Tabasco - December 23 - 10:00 amThis is the best SUV on the market. Here are my only complaints: The switch for the sunroof is located to the left of the drivers wheel. Passenger can not control the sunroof. The other annoying thing is the clock, located on the radio which most times is not readable. They should either locate it in the instrument cluster or make it bright so I dont need glasses to see the time. It would be nice to make a time button on the Navigation screen.

I love this car! - 2004 Acura MDX
By jorvette - October 29 - 2:00 amWhile only owning the MDX for a week, I am already in love with this vehicle. It handles very well, is comfortable (I took a 1000 mile trip this weekend) and gets good mileage for a vehicle its size. i would recommend it to anyone.

The Greatest SUV Ive Ever Owned - 2004 Acura MDX
By Acura Lover - September 22 - 2:00 amBetter than the X5 I used to own. Were planning to get a second one when my wifes Volvo X70 lease is up. The kids love the room and enjoy the option of having their own row with the seven passenger seating. The performance and handling on the MDX is like a fine performance car. The four wheel drive is seemless and the gas mileage blows my former X5 away. I had to wait for the MDX since its the most popular SUV in its class, but trust me, its so worth it. Dollar for dollar, you just cant beat it. It has features that come standard that the X5 just couldnt touch. If youre in NJ, definitely go to DCH Montclair Acura.

Totaled 3 month old, bought another - 2004 Acura MDX
By bmartys - July 31 - 10:00 amI totaled our 3 month old MDX at 75mph on the interstate. It flipped end over end twice across the median into oncoming traffic. We opted to get another MDX because I think I would have been dead in anything else even though none of the airbags deployed.

BacktoAcura - 2004 Acura MDX
By BacktoAcura - May 11 - 2:00 amDrove SUVs for years. Wanted a more "car-like" & better refinement. Drove Infiniti FX...RX 330...Hylander MDX was the best value & refinement for the $$. Turned in my QX4...tired of the bumpy ride & cramped quarters. MDX superior ride...engine...interior..etc. Acuras quality & in my case..."Welcome Home" as I had driven Legends years ago was refreshing!

My analysis after 2 weeks. - 2004 Acura MDX
By smc2103 - March 25 - 10:00 amGot my 04 MDX about 2 weeks ago. I am getting about 20.5 mpg (mostly highway, some local) on average so far. I am happy with this average as my 96 TL was giving only about 2 miles more. I have no sloshing issue, however the 2K RPM humming sound is there. However, I have learnt to ignore it, and doesnt bother me too much. Other than that really loving the drive! Would have loved Acura to place some light over the coin tray!

Rpleaced our Explorer - 2004 Acura MDX
By Karicher - February 22 - 10:00 amSafe and fun to drive. Purchased due to reliability, safety ratings, traction and stability control systems. Plenty of interior room while not looking as big from outside.
