Overview & Reviews
A number of interior, exterior and mechanical updates were made for 2004. The V6 engine added slightly more power and is now rated at 265 horsepower and 253 pound-feet of torque. Outside, you'll find a restyled front fascia, new chrome trim, dual exhaust tips, a new wheel design for Touring models, updated headlights and taillights and a rear wing spoiler. The interior now features trendy brushed metal-look trim for the center stack, leather armrests, auto-on/off headlights, new ambient foot lighting and enhanced functionality of the second-row seat for third-row access. Touring models get a new version of the Bose premium audio system and power lumbar support for the driver seat. Finally, safety has been improved on all MDXs with the addition of side curtain airbags and a tire-pressure monitoring system.
- Room for seven passengers or serious amounts of cargo, gutsy V6 engine, well-balanced suspension, top-rated crash test scores, low price.
- Limited off-road capability, below-average tow rating, ho-hum interior design and materials.

Awesome Luxury SUV - 2004 Acura MDX
By Tofer - January 11 - 2:00 amWe looked at 5 other SUVs before we settled on the MDX, including the BMW, VW Touareg, Highlander, Pilot and the Lexus RX330. In the end we picked the MDX for the best combination of luxury, ride, and price. The MDX offers a very quiet ride - but is still very responsive and a lot of fun to drive. The styling is in our opinion the best. The interior is very well laid out and we found this to be the most comforable of all the SUVs we drove. While we wont use the 3rd row seats very often, it is nice to have the extra seating available.

Acura MDX Base Model - 2004 Acura MDX
By Walter_NH - October 18 - 2:00 amHad a Jeep Grand Cherokee for 9 years. After looking at the flexability, performance, winter driving and reliability of Lexus, BMW, Volvo, Infinity, Nisson, VW,Toyota and Acura; there was really only one choice - the ACURA MDX. A test drove all the SUVs and read information for two months before making the final pick. I paid $36,500 ($400 under invoice). It was the base model. For an extra $4,000 to $6,000 I could have got some nice extras (NAV, DVD, Sound system, etc.) but decided the base model was a great deal. We just had our first big snow storm in New England 15" to 30" and the MDX was perfect, I mean just great in the snow and sleet !

2004 Acura MDX - 2004 Acura MDX
By iquilt6 - October 12 - 2:00 amBest SUV I test-drove. Competition was the Honda Pilot and Toyota Highlander and the MDX beat them both hands down. It has a smooth, comfortable ride, very car-like due to the chassis. I wanted a third-row because I sometimes haul grandchildren, and I wanted that third- row to be comfortable. The Highlanders third row seat seemed like an afterthought, and not a very good one at that. The Pilot would have been a good choice, but Honda would not put a tan interior in a white exterior -- VERY shortsighted in my opinion. I am thrilled with the MDX -- it just keeps getting better.

Please reduce the exhaust noise - 2004 Acura MDX
By asharkov - August 30 - 2:00 amBefore buying my 2004 MDX, I took a test-drive in Mercedes ML350 and Volvo XC90, and I liked the MDX much better then either of them. I like the MDXs acceleration and power, as well as luxury features, like the navigation system and rear-view camera. What I do not like, is a low-pitch noise coming from either muffler, or some other part of the exhaust system at around 2000 rpms, or at about 70-72 mi/h. If you keep the car running at that speed for a while, the noise becomes very annoying.

Rating My Acura MDX - 2004 Acura MDX
By Laurie Cinotti - August 30 - 2:00 amI Love my Acura MDX..Everything about it is great but not the Fuel..I am putting a half of tank every 3 days..But I do understand that all SUVs like Trucks are gas consumers..More since I traded in my Acura RL for this..I love that car too but we wanted more room and to feel more safer on the road..so we had ordered the Acura MDX..Thank You

Great Value - 2004 Acura MDX
By mca_kirk - July 18 - 2:00 amIncomparable value; real competitors want $5-10 more; MANY standard features that are available only as options on competing vehicles.

By jyork - July 14 - 10:00 amVery satisfied with car. It meets my needs and knowing Acura quality I own with confidence. Good handling vehicle, pleasant to drive. Since I am 75 years old I enjoy the ride and the way it handles.
