nice suv - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

Bought this car when my 97 S-10 was t-boned in an accident. It has been nothing but reliable and cheap to own. I have taken it on many long distance trips and it has been reasonably comfortable. The only gripes I have are the combo purse/cheap plastic center console arm rest that broke in the first month of owning it, and the rear wiper which never worked reliably (but who needs one anyways). As for the complaints about the rough ride, it is a truck and it has a VERY short wheelbase which combined together make for a very bumpy ride, needless to say if you don't want a bumpy ride get the four door version and say hi to the rest of the soccer moms for me.
Awesome SUV - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

I've had this truck for 4 1/2 years and it's been flawless. I used to be a diehard GM customer but my last 2 vehicles have been Fords and I have been very happy with them. It's unfortunate that Ford discontinued the Sport since it was the perfect size for someone without kids. The reliability has been excellent and I still love the looks of it as much as when I bought it.
i cant believe I made it over 120,000 - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

I purchased this car brand new in August 2002. Still driving it. Have put a lot of highway miles. Things replaced, at 60K needed a new transmission. 70k needed a new a/c compresser. Changed brakes 2x. 2 fuel filters. The truck is not great on miles, but still runs. Yeah, the ride is bumpy but I plan to ride it to the ground. Hoping to get 150k on it. I did get better tires for it. Michel..LTX and that improved the ride. Very good with snow. If you own this car keep it. If you don't, I wouldn't go buy a new one. After 50K everything falls apart.
Not Happy at all! - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

I've owned my Explorer and ever since I had it I was unhappy with it. I had to replace the front end, brakes, shocks, tires since Ive owned it, most within the first year of purchase. The thing I hate the most is its unstability in snow, The vehicle takes off on its own without warning leaving you in the ditch even in 4wd. I just don't feel safe in this vehicle and I am looking for something better.
built ford tough - 2003 Ford Explorer Sport

i owned two explorer sports in 98 then went to a f150 to big for what i need bought a 2002 monte carlo ss what a cheap peice of crap traded in on a 2003 exp sport xlt this is my third one. i love it its a very well built vehicle.i bought the silver birch metallic with medium/dark flint two-tone leather.the 4.0 v6 with 3.73 axle moves this truck with ease and stops with ease with the big 12" brakes. handles very well for what it is. the 101" wheelbase is a little short so ride does suffer a bit. but interior is very comfortable w/heated lumbar seats that slide up easy for back seat passengers. shift on fly 4wd is excellent for bad weather.
A good car at a good price - 2002 Ford Explorer Sport

In one year haven't found any problems at all. Still looks and drives as if just out of the dealership. Good amount of standard features like ABS, CD player, power windows and locks. If anybody is not into SUVS that much and wants to buy SUV just once in the lifetime without shelling out huge amount of money... this is a right vehicle.
It's A Truck - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

I was bored here at work, so I read through the last 7 pages of reviews. While most people were positive, I had problems with several of the reviews. It seems like some people forget that this is a TRUCK. It's not supposed to ride like a car. It has enough power to plow through the snow here in Jersey, and is comfortable enough for me to drive the 300 miles it takes to get me to my parent's house. Although the gas mileage is horrendous, what do you expect, it's a TRUCK. I had a 1000 watt power inverter installed to make it the perfect tailgating accessory for Eagles games. Overall, I love this TRUCK.
A Timex Truck - 2001 Ford Explorer Sport

I bought this truck as a certified 5 year ago with 15K miles. I now have 78K miles, and have not had any major repairs. 1 fuel sensor recall, and replaced the rear pinion seal. I'm only on my second set of tires, and I get about 20-24 MPG. (depending on how I drive) it handles very well in the winter, and can take just about anything you through at it. It is a perfect car for younger drivers

The vehicle has performed quite well. I wish that it got a little better gas mileage, but it is an SUV and I get better gas mileage than I expected.
