  • Frequent Service - 2003 Volvo XC90

Second volvo to own. Other was turbo S80. Both required frequent servicing. The S80 become costly after the warranty period. I was happy that I did not purchase the extended warranty because most of the problems were not covered or I used up the time before reaching the mileage. We are now located in Houston and recently their service is not user friendly. At least in St. Louis, the service was user friendly. Frequent service but user friendly. Service problems in this XC90 included the transmission needing replacement, the Turbo needing service and then multiple small electronic issues. I guess the Swedes havent mastered computers yet. With only 28K, looking for a new vehicle!

Most practical and functional internal design for SUV.Drive smoothly. Price jump rapidly with options.

  • Great Suv! - 2003 Volvo XC90

After waiting 6 months for the vehicle it was definently worth the wait. We bought the car for our baby looking for mostly a safe vehicle that had utility uses. With the T6 we were pleasantly surprised how well made it is and how "smart" the vehicle actually is. The anti roll, reverse warning, climate control, retractable mirrors, rain sensors are all great features that surpassed our expectations and made this not a typical suv.

The volvo has its unique way of style. The comfort and fun to drive stability is great. For winter--an every day driveable vehicle. Its tough, has enough horsepower to push its way out of traffic, although it still seems to make fun of driving know matter what condition.

  • First Year XC90...Gremlins - 2003 Volvo XC90

Bought the T6 as a certified used car from a local dealership in 2004 with 24K on it...thank goodness for warranty as this vehicle was in the shop too often..during our first year of ownership approx 4 visits and about 1.5 months of non-use as they finally determined the engine block was cracked which caused a perpetual coolant bleed into the cylinders...plus since then sunroof drain blockage caused water to leak into the vehicle and soak all of the electrical in front. Tires burn through in about 20k miles and a window switch that sank into the door panel. Guess this is part of the First year gremlins that came out...long story short...I think the Japanese earned their quality reputation.

Picked it up last week. Very, very comfortable to drive and wonderful headroom (Im 64"). Feels a little sluggish with the T6; probably should have gotten the T5 for a sportier feel and better mileage. Overall thrilled with car.

  • Bad Stereo - 2003 Volvo XC90
    By -

I purchased a loaded XC90 T6, W/NAV, 12 speaker premium stereo and 3rd row. THE STEREO IS FLAT OUT - FLAT. There is absolutely no bass (except for a bit from the door speakers. I was told that the optional subwoofer is not a possible option with a 3rd row. After spending $48,000, it is very disappointing.

  • I traded in my year 2000 Mercedes S500 - 2003 Volvo XC90
    By -

I loved my S500 because I could drive 800 miles without stopping and never feel it. The S500 had too many electrical glitches, so I traded before the 4yr warranty expired. The XC90 has the same ride, handling, driveability and comfort as my S500, plus holds 7 people and has all-wheel drive. The 6 cyl engine is not as powerful as my 8 cyl. mercedes, but is nevertheless plenty peppy.

  • Initial Experience - 2003 Volvo XC90

Responsive acceleration, but not mean to be a performance sport car; excellent all-around value in terms of features and price compared to competitors.
