This Year's Model Updates:

Last year's 2.4T model is now the 2.5T, with the same 208-horsepower engine as the AWD model. Bi-xenon headlights are a new option, while the sport package for the 2.5T includes speed-sensitive power steering.

Pros:
  • Superb comfort, wide variety of safety and luxury features, balanced ride and handling characteristics, available all-wheel drive.
Cons:
  • Handling lacks true sport sedan precision, expensive optional equipment, turbo lag and torque steer in the T5 model.

  • Excellent Alternative - 2004 Volvo S60

If you want to consider a viable alternative to the BMW or Audi, you should look at the Volvo S60R. It is extremely quick, comfortable and well constructed. Its price point is better than its competitors. Overall, there is significant value in this car. There have been no problems or defects noted since we picked the car up in May.

Just picked it up last night. All I can say is Wow! Its a great car. it has all the power I desire in a sedan, and is so smooth. And the leather sport seats are so comfortable. And did I mention how nice it looks. I love that fact that it doesnt look like all of the other sedans out there and has its own original styling.

  • I love this car! - 2004 Volvo S60

Tight steering, excellent breaking, much more enjoyable to drive than the Mercedes E320 AWD or the BMW 330xi. Could use a little more room in the back seat. Pleanty of trunk space. For a luxury-sports car this is one of the nicest Ive driven

The car is fantastic. Has pretty much every option I wanted, but about $3,000- $7,000 less than similar category cars. Also, I have 50,000 more miles of Volvo certified warranty...

  • If you can only have ONE CAR... - 2004 Volvo S60

This is the car to get if you can only have ONE car. It is luxurious and fast, without the S4/M3/C32AMG price tag, but arguably without the status either. It doesnt perform (speed and handling) like the cheaper EVO or STI , but its a car you can drive to a business event and take long road trips without punishing you and your passengers with the ride quality. The S60R is tastefully understated and doesnt attract unwanted attention, but yet an automobile connoisseur will know exactly what it is and what it can do. It is the best all-around car in the $40k range. If you can have 2 cars, then I would get a roadster and an SUV.

Bought my S60 used with 60k miles, and couldnt be happier with the price I paid. While I was not completely happy with the overall acceleration from stop (which was greatly improved by adding a cool-air intake for $30), the performance and handling of the car is great. Before the addition of the intake, the car got 30 mpg (around 35 with). I get positive comments all the time regarding the looks of the car. The bi-xenon headlamps, leather interior, and 18 inch wheels are must-have options that drastically change the appearance of the car. The handling on windy roads is fantastic. Acceleration from stop is not great, but makes up for it in the quick jump it can make from 40 to 80+ mph

  • R you having this much fun? - 2004 Volvo S60
    By -

Love my R. Fast and furious looks with the sport package which makes it stand out from the crowd of Audis and BMWs. Car changes behivior at the touch of a button from comfort to race car. The seats are excellent. The turbo is awsome. Sound system is great. Absolute fun to drive. Does not attract too much attention from police (yet).

GREAT LOW KEY SALES GROUP. PURCHASED BELOW DEALER INVOICE BECAUSE OF VOLVO INCENTIVES. SOLID ROAD READY CAR THAT ZIPS AROUND TOWN AND IS SOLID ON THE FREEWAY. STYLING WILL NOT BECOME DATED.

  • Volvo: True to its Mission - 2004 Volvo S60

Volvo has produced an excellent car in the S60 T5. It has performance, reliability, looks, safety, and value in a European sedan. Furthermore, our dealer treats us like royalty when we come in for service. We have had various other luxury makes (including a BMW M3) and they do not compare to our Volvo experience. Still I do love our 2002 Z06.

In order to get maximum performance, you have to drive this car like a Japanese sport bike. Do not up shift if it will put the engine revs below 3500 rpms. This engine is just too flat and unresponsive below 3500 rpms. A six cylinder engine of the same displacement would have been a far superior way to go. Another 75 horsepower would help too. This 5 cyl is funky. It revs smoothly, but has trouble with smoothness at the upper end of the power band. Launches can be problematic too. Keep the revs high and work the clutch. The biggest complaint I have though is that this car, even though it is awd, suffers from torque steer. Fittsugen.
