The Volkswagen R32 is an awsome car all round. I have owned many cars and it tops them all! I cant find any fault with it. It is so much better than a BMW!

Ive owned and M Roadster, and my wife owns a 225hp TT. This car is like mixing the best driving charateristics of the two and adding REAL seating for 4, all for under 30K.

Its not as fast as the STi or the EVO, but its also not a street racer like the STi or the EVO. One things for sure, this car will not knock the fillings out of your teeth. Just read the 3/22/04 Autoweeks article on the R32 because they are right on the money.

What an awesome car. I cannot think of one negative thing about it. My former car is a 2001 subaru RS.And comparitively speaking the ergonomics and fit and finish of the vw is vastly superior. It is an autobahn ready german rocketship.

Ive had my R32 for almost a month, long term reliability and ride degradation review will have to follow after 6 or 9 moths. For now I can say this is one of the most fun cars Ive ever owned to drive. Including several GTIs and an Audi S4. The car just feels right, the 4-motion works great under hard cornering and prevents the wheel spin that the GTIs front drive cannot.

  • Super fun car! - 2004 Volkswagen R32

Well, I just got mine and it is not broken in yet so I havent really been able to drive it hard. It is a beautiful car though, very comfrotable to drive and the exhaust sounds very nice for stock. I usually change the exhaust on my VWs but I will keep this one as it is as it sounds really nice. Even in the non-broken in stage it is very quick even keeping it below 5KRPM.

About a year ago I was all set to purchase a WRX, until I drove it. Low quality interior, paint and turbo lag left me feeling flat. Dont get me wrong its a nice car but not nice enough. It wasnt so much beter than my 1998 Jetta GT that I couldnt justify the $26k. My buddy (who has a 2001.5 GTI VR6 which I liked a lot but it was front wheel drive) told me about the R32 and gave me some european mags covering the car and I was immediately sold. I went down to the dealership and put down the deposit and began my wait. Six months later I took delivery of my black R32. I took it easy on the car for the first 1k miles (to break it in) then the fun began.

Plain and simple; a rocketship on wheels.

This is my 3rd VW VR6 and by far the best. VW got just about everything right on this car. The Haldex AWD and the engine combination provide a well rounded, every day driving, performance rocket. I’ve driven in STi and Evos and felt like I needed to visit the chiropractor afterwards. The R32 provides a stiff but comfortable ride. The sound of the exhaust is something that is constantly turning heads of people expecting to see an Italian exotic. The car in Black or Silver will definitely fly under the radar and "blend in". But I digress; this car is a blast to drive and is equal, if not better in some respects, than other performance coups (M3, S4, 911)

I still love driving my car. The engine sound and the handling are excellent. I have had a lower suspension installed (which also weighs less); love it. Its really nice to have the Golf (GTI) get a great engine and suspension (especially independent rear) that put it back on top of the list of small performance cars. I think Volkswagens efforts to push their products upscale is a success.
