This Year's Model Updates:

For the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta, there is a refreshed instrument panel and cabin trim, a new climate control system and a new radio. Most trims also see a new leather-wrapped, multifunction steering wheel and standard Bluetooth connectivity. An iPod connection becomes a separate option (you had to get the navigation system before) while the SportWagen loses its SEL trim level and the accompanying turbocharged engine. The sport-tuned GLI has been discontinued. Finally, there's a new Limited Edition trim and the TDI Cup "Street" Edition debuts with an extra helping of tuner flavor.

Pros:
  • Diverse selection of strong engines, stellar fuel economy in TDI trim, upscale look and feel, comfortable seats, impressive cargo capacity in both body styles, pleasant ride.
Cons:
  • Below-average fuel economy with 2.5-liter engine, lackluster brake performance, small backseat compared to midsize competitors.

  • Traded in a Hybrid - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

I traded in my Highlander Hybrid for a JSW TDI and cant be happier. After nearly 10K miles, the car is driving great and the engine is really breaking in. I drive 60 miles each way to work, and on one trip home last week, I average 50.8 mpg! Thats more than twice what I gut with my hybrid. Car is comfortable, and I love the nav with satellite traffic. Makes picking a route home during the evening rush much easier. Highly recommend this for commuters who need to carry stuff, or have big dogs, like I do.

  • Import Quality Without Import Price - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

We fell in love with the Jettas solid build and peppy drivetrain during the test drive. Purchased at 37,000 miles, we now have 100,000 with absolutely no problems. We maintain it well and expect to enjoy this car for another 100,000 miles. Parts and labor could be expensive, but it is rarely needing either so it is no matter. I highly recommend the 2010 Jetta 2.5L inline 5 cylinder!

  • Diesel & VW Newbie Loves TDI Sportwagen - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Im a 40 yr old professional working mom with two young kids and a long commute. Id never owned a VW or diesel before buying the TDI Sportwagen (Blue Graphite and beige interior) about 2 weeks/800 miles ago. This car is an excellent value and does so many things well. Performance, comfort, functionality, overall good looks without being too flashy, and MPG are all terrific. So far Im averaging 42 MPG and thats in some stop-and-go traffic. Getting 600 miles per 14.5 gallon tank is both a money- saver and convenient. And its a blast to drive. I expect to be driving this car a long time and told my 6 yr old that if he treats the car right, hell be driving it when he turns 16!

  • Great car! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

This is not my first VW, let alone my first Jetta. Ive owned 7 VWs previously. As always, the quality is very good for the price, and the TDI diesel engine is phenomenal on fuel mileage. On a recent 100 mile round trip on secondary (2-lane) country roads, we averaged about 42mpg with the AC on. Very nice! By far one of the better cars Ive owned...and my other car is a 2008 Corvette that cost $63,000 new, so am a bit picky! And, contrary to popular belief, Low Sulfur Diesel is available everywhere. I live in a small town and within 10 miles there are 6 gas stations, four of which offer the proper diesel, the other two I didnt even bother to check.

  • A New Diesel Convert! - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Looking for a combination of good gas mileage, sportiness and quality is not easy. However, the Jetta TDI hits on all 3! I love this car. 33 MPG in L.A. traffic and downtown and over 40 MPG on the freeway, all with a brand new engine. The TDI really makes me enjoy driving again. The suspension is a bit bit stiff and the steering is very responsive. The interior finish is equivalent to a much more expensive car. Love the new white and red dash instrument lights. The neon blue in older VWs can lead to vertigo (kidding). The folks at VW have hit a home run with this car. Bought through the the AAA program. Great price and dealers will still negotiate too.

  • Better than a Hybrid by far - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

I bought the TDI model in May 2010. Mileage is fantastic, at least 42 MPG depending on type of driving. The car is quiet, responsive, and quick "out of the gate." I believe diesel cars are the unsung heroes of the road.

  • Great auto, 3rd world bluetooth - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

I have been following the TDI for a year and finally purchased one recently. Impressed with the zip-ability of the TDI and the DSG is the transmission from heaven (really, it is that good). The big surprise was to find my common Verizon cell phone will not connect to the VW bluetooth system. It works great in my Fords Sync system but it is not on the short list of acceptable Verizon phones that work within VW. No where in the VW literature (that I can find) nor on the autos window sticker state the Bluetooths connectivity is so limited. Big disappointment, now I need to purchase dumber phones to work in both autos.

  • Love the TDI - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

I have had the TDI for 3 weeks now. I looked at the A3 TDI, but it was $8,000 more and wasnt as well equipped. The Jetta has the same engine and transmission, so I didnt need the four rings. The Jetta is also much more spacious and has a bigger trunk. I love this car. It is fun to drive, well built and gets great mileage. Im averaging 39mpg on mostly city driving. i bought this car as a third car. My BMW 530xi hasnt left the garage since.

  • So far so good - 2010 Volkswagen Jetta
    By -

I bought a 2010 Jetta S about a month ago and I enjoy driving so far. Driving is not as smooth as 2010 Camry but I prefer this design to Toyota or Honda cars. The car is also slim, which makes it easy to park in my narrow garage. The car has a weight to it which I like. Even the doors and trunk are heavier than Toyota cars, which makes it safer. Overall, it is a very safe and fun car. I wish I had gotten SE instead of S. S has cloth seats and I prefer leatherlike seats and an upgraded interior touch screen.
