Overview & Reviews
The base engine is now a 245-hp, 4.0-liter V6 that uses either a six-speed manual or optional five-speed automatic. The optional 4.7-liter V8 now makes 282 hp and is coupled with a standard five-speed automatic transmission. Two-wheel-drive regular cabs are now available with a V8 engine, while four-wheel-drive Access Cabs can no longer be equipped with a V6. Regular cabs equipped with the V8 get a color-keyed grille and chrome front bumper, as well as vinyl flooring and a cloth bench seat. Two new alloy wheel designs are available on Access Cab and Double Cab models, and all Tundras get new headlamps and rear combination lamps. Inside, new gauges and an available navigation system with JBL audio spruce things up a bit. In addition, Double Cabs can now get a 60/40-split bench front seat for true six-passenger seating. Front side-impact airbags and full-length head curtain airbags are now available on Double Cabs.
- Smooth and refined V8, Toyota build quality and reliability, nimble off-road, most carlike of the full-size trucks.
- Lacks serious brawn for towing and hauling, narrow cabin, chintzy interior materials.

Performance and reliability - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By hank from georgia - April 24 - 3:16 pmThis has truly been a wonderful driving experience. I change the oil (Mobil One) every five thousand miles, and keep an eye on the other fluids, and I think this thing would run for a long, long time. The only trouble I had, was when the tire pressure indicator indicated that one of my tires was low on air pressure. I checked all four, and that is when I found out that the spare was also hooked up to a monitor. When I purchase another truck it will be a Tundra. (When you gonna put out a diesel?)

Ford and Chevy dont stand a chance - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By gnc1104 - March 31 - 5:13 amI bought my Tundra used after my F150 was totaled. What a monster!!! I own a construction business, and the Tundra beats the F150 in every category. MPG, power, torque, ride, room, comfort, etc. I will never buy a Ford or Chevy truck again. I added exhaust, leveling kit, and oversized tires, and I am getting about 21 mpg. WOW!!!! Drive one and you will buy one.

Great Truck - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By JDW - December 9 - 6:50 amMine came with the X-SP package with leather and 20" wheels. Very sharp looking truck (was drawing crowds of people the first time I drove it to work). The truck is a pleasure to drive and the 4.7L V8 moves this 5000+ lb. vehicle out in short order. It feels like Im driving a Lexus luxury car from the cabin.

I love it! - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Michele - September 5 - 3:36 pmI love my Toyota Tundra, I origionally wanted the Toyota Tacoma but once I test drove the Tundra I felt much more secure and safe in it. Im used to being intimidated by big SUVs when I had a small car. Now my driving confidence is back.

Toyota In NH - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Toyota in NH - August 19 - 5:33 amI bought this tundra after owning 4 other Toyota. Traded my 97 Tacoma with 200,000. Great truck goes good and with my exhaust, she really pumps out the ponies. Towing two snowmobiles and a 4 wheeler and I cant tell theyre behind me. My friends own Chevys and this truck smokes them with the trailer hooked to it! Buy one youll love it!!!

Wonderful truck for just about anybody - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By Gregg - July 18 - 11:06 amA stump puller it isnt, but for the average person, the Toyota Tundra is all the truck youll ever need. Pulls well, comfortable cabin, and with the step side, an unusual and sporty look for a truck. I got a leftover new 2004 access cab for a "Preachers Price," and am very happy. Quiet and smooth, even over Arkansas roads, and excellent power. Yes, it is a little spartan and dated on the inside styling, but comfortable. A very good value and will do everything I need to do.

Elegant Ride - 2005 Toyota Tundra
By aasheal - June 13 - 7:00 amAs a longtime owner and driver of American-made, full size pickups, the 4- door Tundra is by the far the most drivable machine Ive ever owned. Its like a luxury car with an open trunk.
