This Year's Model Updates:

The Sienna has been completely redesigned for 2004. Roomier and more powerful than before, Toyota's minivan entry now has the all-important fold-flat third-row seat, as well as a choice of seven- or eight-passenger seating (on lower level trims) and available all-wheel drive.

Pros:
  • Reliable Camry genes, refined V6, fold-flat 60/40 third-row seat, seven- and eight-passenger seating configurations, available all-wheel drive.

  • My second not my last - 2004 Toyota Sienna

As older drivers, comfort is of utmost importance. After driving for 8 hours we arrive without the normal stiffness. It is wonderful to handle and with the wonderful turning radius it will practically turn on a dime. Took a little practice parking as it handled a bit differently than the 1998. The auto doors work beautifully and makes it so easy to let guests into the van without getting in and out. The AC is great. I am a Toyota fan. I love the reliability and dependability that is standard with all Toyota products. Oh sure maybe it doesnt have all the trap doors but you wont see it by the side of the road dead.

Had trouble with the gas tank recall. First replacement tank leaked and left my wife stranded, two weeks now and no new part insight. According to other Edmund discussion groups, this has happened before to recall customers in other parts of the country. Is it a replacement part or shoddy workmanship at the dealer, I am not sure. A second first year problem are the run flat tires. After 3,000 miles, the tire gets a nail in it. Toyota informs me that the tire must be replaced and not repaired, list price $200. I had to wait five days for a new tire. According to Dunlop, these tires can be replaced, so much for misinformation.

fun to drive. some controls a little confusing until learned.

  • Sienna rocks!!....and is a rock - 2004 Toyota Sienna

I rate this vehicle very highly except in the area of acceleration. When you have to aggressively accelerate in traffic, there is a pronounced hesitation in applying power. The Toyota dealer has been unable to simulate but this hesitation, which appears to be computer-related affecting mixture or timing, makes the vehicle dangerous to drive because power is not there when you need it. Based on the dealers response, we will have to live with it.

  • Too expensive on tires - 2004 Toyota Sienna

Good for traveling but we have had to replace several tires and do more then normal alignments. More then one mechanic said the alignment was a problem. This has cost us money that should not be an issue. Also the noise level is bad and the CD players does not work well.

  • What they dont tell you about the AWD - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

First, I had to have the motor on the side door replaced. It took the local dealership 3 tries to fix, and they kept my car each time, refusing to pay for a rental. In addition, I was not aware that the AWD does not come with a spare tire, or a place to store a spare tire. I had a flat tire on a "run-flat"tire that was defective, and was not able to drive the car. I had to have the car towed to Toyota, where it took them 2 days to get a new tire. They would not cover any of the costs of towing, replacement, or car rental. In addition, all handbooks show this car with a spare. Buyer beware...it appears it is truly Toyota "Cutomer....No Service!"

  • Couldnt be happier - 2004 Toyota Sienna

After deciding to step "down" to a minivan from a pickup ;) the next big decision was which one? Toyota, Honda, Kia or Dodge? Once we had test driven all 4, the Sienna was the hands down winner! I am as happy now, 3 years later, as I was the day we took delivery. This vehicle has NEVER let me down and has lived up to all its positive reviews.

  • THE BEST OF THE MINI-VANS - 2004 Toyota Sienna
    By -

This is the best car I have ever owned! It is a dream to drive. The turning radius is amazing when I need to do a u- turn in a parking lot! It is quiet, smooth and comfortable. When I am tooling down the road, I feel like I am in the lap of luxury. I have had friends who owned mini-vans, but this one feels like a car, compared to theirs and is so EASY to drive.

  • So close to perfect - 2004 Toyota Sienna

This van is tops! Great looks (especially w/ running boards), good performance, lavish interior. The family goes in style! It is so close to perfect... but... there is a disconcerting hesitation whenever I accelerate from a "near" stop (<5mph) that I *hope* will never be a larger problem. Also the design of the middle right seatbelt (captains seat) feed slot makes for slow or no retraction under normal use - a possible safety concern with a child who does not understand the importance of the seatbelt staying under tension. Otherwise I am very happy with my Sienna... now the dealership...was another story. Gary

  • best vehicle ever! - 2004 Toyota Sienna

This is our first minivan. And being previous SUV owners, this van is a dream having kids! We will never go back to a SUV! Toyota again lives up to its reputation with a well designed, well built, smooth riding van. After driving and comparing the Honda and the Nissan...there is no comparison!
