This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Toyota Prius lineup gets a little racier, as Toyota adds the Prius Touring model, which has a sport-tuned suspension, 16-inch alloy wheels, foglamps, xenon headlights and a larger rear lip spoiler. The other notable change for 2007 is that the original Toyota hybrid car now comes standard with front-seat side airbags and full-length head curtain airbags.

Pros:
  • Outstanding gas mileage, low emissions, generous amount of interior room, easy to maneuver in tight spaces, excellent build quality, reasonable price.
Cons:

  • Love the Prius But... - 2007 Toyota Prius

Love the car for all the reasons everyone else loves the car. Always considered it one of my best purchases of any product ever. Never had a complaint until today and, now, Im think of selling the car. I park in a smallish garage with the hood of the car under a storage shelf; I cant open the hood without backing the car a few feet. And, two nights ago, I left the drivers door ajar, draining the 12 volt battery. Thats the 12 volt battery in the far left rear of the car, accessible ONLY via the rear hatchback door that DOES NOT OPEN WITHOUT ELECTRICTY. The solution recommended in the owners manual is to crawl into the back and start disassembling the car from the inside.

  • Not A Bad Little Car - 2007 Toyota Prius

As a 14yr SUV-veteran, I had to face the fact that it was not long for the road. I thought of going for another SUV but I figured gas would be going through the roof and I needed a more economical vehicle for the frequent short trips I was now making. It took a few months for me to adjust to the change in height and performance of the Prius but the tradeoff has been worth it. It has a surprisingly smooth ride on the highway and doesnt feel like its going 70 mph. Pickup from a stop is decent, maneuverability is good, not crazy about the backup alert, passenger room is comfortable for 4 people. My trips to the gas station have been cut in half compared with the SUV guzzler.

  • So much better than I anticipated - 2007 Toyota Prius

For those of you who have not driven one, you will be surprised. This car has surprising acceleration and lots of space inside. The Bluetooth, MP3 jack and backup camera are a real plus. The downside is the comfort level. The seats have little support, and are not comfortable for drive that goes beyond 45 minutes.

  • Zippy economy-feel car w/cool technology - 2007 Toyota Prius
    By -

The Touring model has good handling (little body lean on turns) and is fun to drive. However, it rides much like an economy car (a bit road noisy and you can definitely feel bumps, RR tracks, etc.) Some interior materials feel cheap esp. fabric and plastic dash/doors. However, there is a lot of cool technology way ahead of the average car. It gets very good mileage, avg. 44, best 50.1. We drive 400 miles on a tank and all fill-ups have been UNDER $30 even w/CA gas prices up to $3.29 gal - ouch!. It also has very good power for small HP engine. Goes up highway hills with no problem, but works hard going up lower speed mountain roads. Next time would buy Touring model w/o any pkg.

  • 260,000 miles, no rattles, no creaks, no maintenance - 2007 Toyota Prius
    By -

I have driven a lot of great cars but this is by far tops. 260,000 miles, and not one creak, rattle or squeak..and that includes the brakes. I have never even had to change breaks or turned rotars, and my car drives perfectly straight still. Using engine to break and recharge battery saves the brakes!! Power is great, I can pass and go 90 mph if I wanted and engine has no straining. Oh and I have never had a tuneup either. My leather seats only have a side split in drivers seat, leather steering wheel still looks new. Dont be fooled, its spacious and comfy. I am 61" and used to have back aches from driving so much, but this cars smooth ride has changed that too! Has saved me a fortune!

  • Prius is Good - 2007 Toyota Prius

Excellent acceleration - achieved 50.4 MPG from Philly to NYC. Average in first year combined 44 mpg. Quiet comfortable in passenger seat. Technology state of the art with keyless start, mpg, back up camera.

  • Great all around car - 2007 Toyota Prius
    By -

Its a lot bigger than it seems on the outside! Put down the seats and you have a serious flat-bed hauler! We get 48MPG yr over yr average and we live in a cold climate (much heater). Its not a speed deamon but thats not why youre buying it. Weve owned it for 4yrs now and aside from the trunk being stuck when first driving it out of the showroom - no issue whatsoever! If only ALL cars had this (or even close) mileage - still amazes me why in this day and age these numbers are not standard!!! Well worth every penny and would buy again in a heartbeat!

  • Prius is great car - 2007 Toyota Prius
    By -

Bought the car new (2.5 years ago). I have 47,000 miles without any trouble. Only complaint is an annoying rattle. Im getting around 47 MPG overall. 53 on longer freeway trips. I can get five people in it relatively comfortably (one or two kids) for what it is (day trips). Power is better than most four cylinder cars. It wont beat a corvette, it wasnt meant to. With the back seat folded down it holds a great deal. Toyota delivered what they promised. Id buy one again in a second (after I wear this one out first).

  • Mostly good - 2007 Toyota Prius

My Prius is manufactured in Japan, except for the Goodyear tires. Guess where all of my problems have been. With the tires. I had to replace one with a leak through the side wall. Should have been covered by warranty, but it wasnt. They said we must have abused it, which we didnt. Now another tire has a slow leak. I paid $10 to fix it but it still leaks. I add air every 10-12 days. Next time I get Japanese tires. Short trips in Minnesota winter gets me only 36 mpg, but usually I get 46-50. In Hot Springs, Arkansas area I got 55 last year. It likes hills, doesnt like cold. My Camry only gets 31, so it sits.

  • Intellegent Car for the 21st Century - 2007 Toyota Prius

Comfortable, but not too comfortable. Peppy, but not speedy. A vehicle that improves your driving habits and rewards with great gas mileage. A car that evokes envy and also disgust, but to the driver it just doesnt matter! The world is suddenly less dunning and the planet breathes a little easier. In a funny way it teaches us to be more courteous, gentle with the pedal, and mindful of our influence on the planet. Perhaps the biggest change in my driving habits since owning this car is that I now drive less.
