Amazing!!! - 2002 Toyota Prius
By jesusnipples - July 22 - 2:00 amAfter 6,000 miles this car never ceases to amaze me. The driving certainly takes getting used to. You cant expect to master it on a weekend trip (reference, previous poor review). Once you learn the subtleties of driving in "steath mode" (fully electric), your fuel economy will soar. Expect "poor" mpg ratings (35 mpg) at first. For the last 2,500 miles, I have averaged 51.7 mpg. Interior plenty of room for 4 or 5. This car has more legroom in the back than my 2001 Jetta. I am 510" and can sit behind the front seats, even with the seat slid all the way back! Trunk is surprisingly large. Plenty of pep. I "burned rubber" a few days ago trying to scoot across a busy intersection.

15 years and still going - 2002 Toyota Prius
By Bill A - June 29 - 4:23 amI bought this car used in 2009 from the state motor pool with 95,000 miles. It has now gone 155,000 and it is still getting 44 mpg on the highway. Since buying it it is has only done 40 mpg in town. Ive replaced ball joints, rear shocks, rear bearings, small battery, fan belt and the steering rack (a free recall). The fluids have all been replaced and the A/C was recharged once. Dash lights are starting to burn out and it cost me $85 to replace the green headlight on indicator. So far this is the best little car Ive owned in my 73 years of life. Now if it will just run another couple of years until the tires wear out.

I LOVE THIS CAR!!! - 2002 Toyota Prius
By bratgirl - October 31 - 10:10 pmThe car handles like a dream! The fuel economy is terrific and I get so many comments from other people. Toyota has been fantastic in taking care of the only problem I have had with the car- the computer went out (probably due to very cold weather) and they were amazing! The car has had no problems since. I would have never written a review of any car I have owned in the past, but this little gem is super. I cant wait to get into a new one next year!

Buying another Prius! - 2002 Toyota Prius
By Strico - October 19 - 10:06 pmWe do a lot of driving between towns in CT, and this has been a great car for that. We put about 20k miles/year on the car and have had zero problems. Our mileage has averaged between 42-50 mpg (more in summer, plus I have a tendency to speed). Were selling our 02 Prius, and have just bought an 05 Prius. Were loyal hybrid fans.
