Comfortable, fun to drive, economical and quality, quality, quality. Just read reviews of the Jetta and/or Passat I ALMOST bought. Nice to have made the right choice. Excellent dealer service and attitude as well. Comfortable on long trips up the California coast. No street racer but does not claim to be.

  • Great little car! - 2002 Toyota Prius

Weve only put a few thousand miles on it, but its been a lot of highway miles. Its very comfortable. I think Toyota could have boosted the quality of the seats, but its still comfortable. My main "gripe" is the center arm rest. I drove the car for about a month and then ordered the extension from Coastal Technology. I was concerned about muddy roads as we have a pretty good stretch to drive on them when it rains. Front wheel drive handles it like a charm! Were getting a constant 46 - 47 miles to the gallon. We drive 35 miles each way to work, plus around town driving. The mileage seems to get better as its broken in. Sooooo much better than the Jeep Grand Cherokee!

I have been very pleased with the performance and value of my Prius. Ive averaged 40 mpg driving only in the city, which is less than the estimate, but I expected that. Ive been especially pleased with the way it handled in the snow. And its sooooo quiet!

We now have 9000 miles on our Prius, and every time we get in it my wife and I still look at each other and say out loud, "I love this car!" Incredible build quality and zero problems after one year of ownership. Legendary "stealth mode"...still have fun freaking people out (usually bikers or joggers) by cruising by silently. Only one minor complaint...gas mileage really suffers in our cold winters. Sometimes the engine will turn on just to produce heat for the passenger compartment!

  • A Prius for Every Garage - 2002 Toyota Prius

This car makes sense for any 2 car family, especially city dwellers. The amount of interior room is surprising (within tenths of inches compared to Passat) and is quite comfortable. The trunk holds a double child stroller and has plenty of room for groceries to spare. The stereo is pretty decent and the car is very fun to drive. Sure it doesnt give you whiplash when you punch it, but it has plenty enough power for 99% of driving conditions. The energy conserving technology of the Prius provides a great way of giving a one finger salute to our so- called friends in the middle east.

  • Efficient, hi-tech, comfortable - 2002 Toyota Prius

Very fun to drive, and never fails to interest passengers. Zero problems after one year. Handles very well in snow. Wasnt expecting such a huge improvement over previous vehicle (1992 Saturn SL1), but got it in all areas. Feels solid and safe.

  • Still feels unique - 2002 Toyota Prius

I love this car, the smooth ride, shut down at stop lights, quiet but quick acceleration. I average 40 mpg. Toyota should say mileage will improve as car breaks in. In tough weather, mileage drops slightly in relation to use of defrost/air co. and unlike other hybrids does not shut off at stop lights! I came up a very ]steep hill w 6" snow and moving slowly I rode to the top without a problem. Narrow tires are stable in snow, not in mud. Would I buy it again? Definitely.

  • I must like it Im buying my third Prius - 2002 Toyota Prius

Ive owned a 2001 which was in an accident, a 2002 and am now buying a 2004 Prius. The Prius is wonderful. I get 55+ MPG. My driving style suits the Prius. I drive mostly on trips of 20 minutes or more at 35-40 miles per hour with limited traffic stops. Freeway miles are less at 46mpg. I also get less milage in winter, 45-50. On the other hand my record is 64mpg on a tankful (confirmed at pump not just the computer screen which tends to be off by a consistant 2mpg). The Prius will not get the best milage during the first five minutes or so as it warms up, often only 35. Performance is good, comfort levels high.

  • We love our Prius - 2002 Toyota Prius

Downside: Does not track well at speed on highways. Does not deliver advertised gas mileage. No wagon or 5-door sedan available. Upside: Noveltly never quits. Delight to drive in town. Quality throughout. Excellent drivers position, visibility. Easy entry and exit for us old folks. Peace and quiet, but not with max uphill or passing situations. Our riders like it, nice back seat.

Surprisingly fun and practical commuter. It can carry four but for two and luggage - no problem. a fully functional auto with no real compromises - unless you need to burn rubber
