  Very Happy - 2008 Toyota Highlander

  I just picked up my 2008 HL Ltd. on August 2nd, the Canada wide launch date. I ordered it in black with black interior in May when local dealership placed their first orders without knowing final price. Seriously considered 2007 MDX and Lexus RX 350. Decided to wait for HL and very pleased. Just returned from vacation trip to Lake of the Woods Ontario and it handled beautifully over hills and highway. Looks much better in person than in pictures. Ride quality, performance and JBL premium stereo are top notch along with fit and finish. Great room legroom and headroom. Upgraded from 2000 GM Montana van, will never consider GM product (Acadia, Enclave) after major problems with Montana.

  We purchased a loaded 08 Sport, minus leather, and we just cant drive it enough! It is so smooth and quiet; feels like you are gliding. Our first trip we averaged 27.3 on the road and in the city we are averaging 21.2. Overall we are very pleased with our new purchase.

  Got my Highlander June 2008 and have test driven it for 11,000 miles in all weather conditions. I am very pleased with all of the vehicles functions. My only real complaint is that in very cold weather the vehicle needs to be warmed up before driving otherwise it makes a lot of noise and has a major loss of power. My Subaru Outback that I traded in never did that in any temperature weather. Other than that, the vehicle has power, comfort, reliability and fairly good fuel economy for a large vehicle.

  I bought a new Highlander after previously owning 3 other Toyota full-size SUVs..a 1983 Landcruiser, 1993 Landcruiser, 2002 Sequoia. I wanted a smaller, more manueverable, more fuel efficient, but still comfortable car. I also needed the ability to carry seven passengers for short periods once in a while. I am delighted with the car so far. I have had it about a month, and have put about 1500 miles on it. I bought a fully equiped Limited model, including nav system, blue tooth phone, both front and rear auto A/C. It has been a little bit of a challenge to get used to the nav system and also the bluetooth phone. Sometimes it works very well, other times it is frustrating.

  I bought my Highlander Limited recently after 4 months of looking and test driving lots other vehicles. Compared to the Lexus RX, Acura MDX, Lincoln MKX, BMW X3, MB ML350, and Infiniti FX and EX 35, my Highlander blows them away! Standard equipment includes: back up camera, rear seat change up into captains chairs, easy to read controls, AC & heat controls for the rear passengers, lots of HP, loads of trunk space (w/ 3rd seat down) and regular gas. The Blizzard Pearl color (w/gray interior) is gorgeous, and the ride is as smooth as my husbands RX 350! This car gives you a much better bang for your buck, is good to look at, and is in a class by itself. Try it, you wont be disappointed.

  Leather Seats Streching - 2008 Toyota Highlander

  Have about 1200 miles on my HI sport. Have noticed in rear seats, section of leather is looking stretched out. These two seats sat in app 2 hours a week if that. Not noticed in drivers seat that I am in day in and day out. Dealer saying its not an issue. I would understand the worn look after a year or two but after 8 weeks, cmon! Am guessing the pieces of leather may be thinner than other pieced on the seat - Im not giving in til I get some resolution - this is a 30K vehicle!

  I finally turned in my gas guzzler Lexus LX 470 SUV. This Highlander has all of the features I required except the nav. (I did not get the nav as I plan on buying my own to share in my household). The gas mileage is great at 20 MPG for my use (half city, half highway). Very smooth ride, JBL sounds great. Like the "smart key" push button start, homelink, heated seats, power rear door, lots of room. I highly recommend this vehicle.

  Better than Pilot - 2008 Toyota Highlander

  I love everything about it! Went from a 2006 Honda Pilot EXL and have to say this car is a much better design completely. I have a loaded sport model minus the nav. The captains car make 3rd row usable. Couldnt live w/out power tailgate and back up camera now. I love love love how the extra seats folds away! On average I get 23.8 mpg better than my pilot. Accessories are cheaper than Hondas surprisingly. More bang for the buck than pilot all the way around! Sticker was 37k more than comp. Pilot but after rebate and wheelin and dealn got for 28K. The deals are out there just got to find them! Fun to drive mom car w/out looking like the soccer mom van but still very functional!!

  Impressive SUV - 2008 Toyota Highlander

  Last vehicle I had was a 1991 Mazda Navajo. What a difference 16 years makes. Did 4 months of research (Edmunds, Cars.com, Vehix, CR) all rated the car well despite new design. Choice between Pilot & Highlander. Pilot was a little too utilitarian and mpg ratings fr: blogs dissuaded me. I made the right choice. Have only had it a month and filled it twice, but highway: got 25 mpg, mixed, got 20.5 mpg despite 6 cylinder, limited, AWD, tow package, backup navi & bluetooth. All user friendly. Highly recommend this vehicle.

  TIRE PROBLEMS - 2008 Toyota Highlander

  Bought this fourwheel drive V-6 Sport for my wife who travels 60 miles per day. The car is great, the problem is with the original tires (toyo open country A20) wore out at 18000 miles. Replaced them with four brand new Bridgestone Duelers HL 400. ($900.00). These tires are equally as bad and down right dangerous in snow/wet conditions. I am now purchasing a set of winter tires for the car (bridgestone Blizzak DM-V1 (another $900.00). Sure the car is great. Good luck finding a tire for the car that works in the ice and snow. This is too bad for such a highly rated car. Is it the fault of the tires or Toyotas fault for choosing such an odd size tire/tire design fault. Good Luck w tires!
