  • Decent, solid, reliable Toyota - 2005 Toyota Highlander

I have owned this vehicle for 4.5 years and have had no issues. Transmission shifting from 3rd to 4th is a bit "herky jerky" at times but the overall ride is extremely smooth. Plan on buying another one in 2-3 years. A solid buy.

  • Love this SUV much more than I expected. - 2005 Toyota Highlander

This family of 5 is loving our 2005 Toyota Highlander. Definitely like the 3rd row seat, our 10 year old enjoys having his own place in the car, as do the 16 and 14 year olds like the middle seat with center arm rest. No more do I hear "will you stop touching me!" from the rear of the vehicle, everyone has plenty of room now. Having this as our family weekend vehicle, the wife and I look for excuses to park my Civic and her Altima and pack the kids in and go out to eat or visit GrandMa or just plain go for a Sunday drive. Looking forward to vacationing this summer and the local drive-in movie too. Does not get the mileage that either of the other two cars get, but the 20/25 split is not bad.

This car handles very well and is a pleasure to drive. Excellent off road traction, very comfortable interior and a pleasure to drive. Highly recommend this vehicle.

I love this car. Before purchasing the Highlander,we owned a Ford Explorer. The Highlander is so much better in every way. The Explorers ride and steering were stiff and truck like. There was no comfort in that car and the gas mileage was awful. I also never felt safe in that car. With the Highlander, it is like riding in a luxury car. The interior is plush and the handling and comfort are top of the line. We have taken this car on long trips and there is so much leg room. The arm rests are great. I have told people that the only problem with the Highlander is that the seats are TOO comfortable. It is like sitting on my couch at home.

  • 8+ years and 111,000 miles and keeps on going - 2005 Toyota Highlander

I just love my 2005 Highlander. So much so that we cant seem to find a reason to replace it. I bought it used in 2006 with 20k miles and have added 90k+ miles. Getting an average of 25 on highway and about 20 in the city for a v6 is terrific. I have so many memories in this car - we have done lots of roadtrips. Besides the standard 90k maintenance to replace the belts, pump etc. and regular 5k mile maintenance, i have had 1 issue - the fuel cap needed replacing at 108k miles. I guess we will wait another 2 years and then replace it around 150k with either a Lexus Rx or another highlander!

  • Highlander - perfect reliability 5 years - 2005 Toyota Highlander

I bought this Highlander brand new, and it has performed absolutely perfectly for 5+ years. I replaced a headlight last year, otherwise perfect. Very comfortable to drive, quiet on the highway, zero build defects, the V6 is adequate if not a neck-snapper, but with very good fuel economy (27 on the highway, 21 around town). The styling is a bit bland, but as an engineer I appreciate how well it is built. I have owned several Hondas and Toyotas, and both have been exteremly good. But when I replace this Highlander, I certainly drive a new Highlander first.

This is an awesome SUV. I wanted an RX330 but glad I chose the Highlander for its looks, reliability and performance. Feel like a dream when I drive this SUV. It is spaceous, comfortable and floats on air. Love it!!

Disappointed in the ride - a little rough - feel every bump in the road - not kid friendly - Toyota makes you pay extra for safety ex. side curtain air bags - not an option, its a step up to a more expensive vehicle - Ill trade this car in for a Murano soon.

  • My FIrst new car - 2005 Toyota Highlander

Well, it is not a car, and not an SUV. Its fuel is 16 NY city, 22 HW (best). Seems I need to go to the dealer for even a simple oil change to avoid problems... that really stinks... no more 30 min oil changes, now its 2-4 hours at a dealer. Some minor assembly defects (e.g., some wires are too short and plastic in rear left wheel well deformed), it came with a spare that has a melted sidewall, impossible so far to find so called tow prewire in rear... toyota itself was no help when I called and asked about it.

  • Comfortable Car - 2005 Toyota Highlander

I purchased the Highlander last August and have 17,000 mi. on it. It is extremely comfortable and very intuitive to drive. I had a 1999 BMW 328i and was used to power and handling. This vehicle has excellent power and very good handling compared to the BMW. Obviously not as crisp in a corner but it handles exceptionally well. All the controls are intuitive and the steering releases very smoothly in a corner like the BMW. The arm rest is perfeclty positioned for one hand steering. It is very roomy for the passengers in the first two rows. The third seat is tight but it still is OK for two adults. The gas mileage averages around 20mpg. A little less than I would like, but acceptable.
