This Year's Model Updates:

The Toyota Avalon remains largely unchanged for the 2007 model year. All models now have tire-pressure sensors, and a navigation system is now available on the Touring trim.

Pros:
  • High-quality cabin, soft and quiet ride, upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • No folding rear seats, refined nature leaves little room for personality.

  • My first Toyota - 2007 Toyota Avalon

I havent had this car for long but has a smooth ride and clean spacious interior. Im not the typical demographic age for this car almost 30 with 1 child. I wanted a large ,comfortable, and safe car for road trips around the coast, mountains, and deserts. So far I love my new Avalon in Blue Mirage.

  • Best 4 Door Sedan on the road! - 2007 Toyota Avalon

Had a 2006 Avalon and was hit head on by a pickup truck. Survived because of the air bags, seat belts and the front crush panels engineered into the car. Replaced the Avalon with a new 2007 Avalon. Shifts smoother, rides like a dream, and has even better milage than the 2006. I get 30/31 mpg on the road and 23/24 in town and for a full sized sedan that is amazing.

  • A few things stink - 2007 Toyota Avalon

The gps system is effectively inoperative. You cant get the enter key to hit a letter or other item with any sort of reliability. Entering a street name could take twenty minutes. The dealer here in Newark De, said that this is typical and fixing would cost a small fortune. So I use a $150 garmin. Pathetic, dont you think? I have about 50k miles on the car. Also, the seat heaters stay on all the time, so I had to disconnect the fuses, so I lost that function. I am a little disappointed in the car for these reasons. Other than that, it has a beautiful ride with excellent mileage. My next car will not be an Avalon - I may go to a Buick or a Lexus.

  • 2007 Avalon XLS - 2007 Toyota Avalon

This is my 2nd Avalon (first was a 98 XLS) and have been disappointed in quality. AC hose clogged at 35k miles, soaked & ruined the carpeting; oil line broke (28k miles) and I lost all engine oil on the road. Added oil to limp into the dealership. Engine noise (ticking exhaust) makes it sound like an old Chevy. Paint quality is average. I want my 98 Avalon back!

  • All I was looking for and more! - 2007 Toyota Avalon

Weve had our XLS since August (1700mi) and love it! Bought it at $400 under invoice. Tough decision between the Lucerne and the Avalon as Ive always bought GM, but dont regret it in the least. The Buick is nice, nearly identical feature to feature, and had a larger trunk, but the 3.8L engine and 4-spd transmission did not compare to the Toyotas 3.5hp and 5-spd in power and smoothness. 3.8L was the same setup as my 97 Bonneville, bulletproof but not as refined as one would expect in the Lucerne. The Avalon handles well, has oodles of power, is very comfortable on long trips, has plenty of room for the family, and great looks to boot. Id recommend it to anyone!

  • Disappointed - 2007 Toyota Avalon

The seats in this Avalon are terrible, more uncomfortable than you can imagine. Why would a designer put all kinds of seams in a car seat? The steering is also "hard", not smooth like in our 2003 Avalon. It feels like Im driving a Mack truck. The radio sounds like an old transistor AM radio - tinny and poor quality. Ive also had major problems with merging onto interstates from entrance ramps; sometimes I wonder if Ill make it without being rear ended by a car 1/4 mile behind me. The pick-up is not reliable. Cabin noise is very loud on interstates, mostly from moonroof. Overall, if you are a small woman who is looking for comfort and a great car for road trips, the 2007 Avalon is not it.

  • Great vehicle - 2007 Toyota Avalon

Very impressed. Toyota finally has removed the "old folks" label given to the Avalon over the years. Great size, power, interior and ride.

  • 2nd Avalon - 2007 Toyota Avalon
    By -

This is the 2nd Avalon owned, previous was a 2005 xls. The 2007 has improved the transmission problems that the 2005 had with downshifting. Transmission on the 2007 is smooth, much more refined. Also, the std features on the limited are worth the $, keyless entry, ventilated seats, rain sensing wipers, dynamic cruisr ctrl., etc. The nav. system is ok, rest of the screen displays are great, easy to use read, no glare on the screen.

This is my 3rd Avalon -1995, 2000, 2007. I didnt feel comfortable with the drive by wire acceleration. Two trips to the dealer where they scanned the computer didnt show anything. Finally, on Edmunds forum someone had TSB EG 029-07 regarding the tranny controller. Brought to the dealer with this info. The reprogrammed the controller and this fixed the problem.

  • Great Car, Would Buy Again - 2007 Toyota Avalon

We looked at a number of different cars before we bought this one and Im very happy we bought the Avalon. Usually you have to take a car back after you buy it for minor things, well after 6 months and 4,000 miles not one thing is wrong with this car. Its my wifes car and I cant get her out of it, she loves it.
