This Year's Model Updates:

The Toyota Avalon remains largely unchanged for the 2007 model year. All models now have tire-pressure sensors, and a navigation system is now available on the Touring trim.

Pros:
  • High-quality cabin, soft and quiet ride, upscale amenities.
Cons:
  • No folding rear seats, refined nature leaves little room for personality.

  • Better choice than a Jag - 2007 Toyota Avalon

We traded in our Jaguar S-Type on the Limited. The Avalon offers just about all of the same goodies and then some as the S-type at about $15000 less. The reliability ratings and customer satisfaction reviews were what convinced me to buy the Avalon. The S-Type had numerous little problems and two big mechanical problems and from what Ive read and heard, the Avalon is much more reliable. The ride is considerably quieter and smoother than the S-Type, although not as responsive and sporty. The gadgets are just as comparable to the Jaguar, auto dimming mirrors are a luxury I cant live without now. The ventilated seats, oooo la la!

Bought this car because of the Consumer Reports ratings on reliability and its reasonable price for a Lexus-like ride. It has been a pretty good car. Ive felt the transmission hunt when rapidly accelerating (like 1000s of others) but it has not cause a problem. Hood paint is marginal. Gas mileage exceptional. Comfortable interior. Would definitely buy another but would look at the Nissan/Infinity models also due to the transmission slip issue.

Had a I-30 Infinity, not interested in competing with BMW, more interested in a smooth driving and riding machine. Which is what you get with a Avalon. Limited has all the bells and whistles that Infinity offers, plus more at a much better price. Love the room inside, the smart key, the great gas mileage, the memory outside mirrors, the rain activated windshield wipers, etc. I think the interior looks great. I love the attention to details: when you "spritz" your windshield to clean it, the wiper makes several passes, pauses for about 10 seconds and makes a final pass to clear any drips! If the rear sunshield is up, it automatically goes down when you put the car in reverse! Cool!

My wife and I love this car. It handles very well in city and highway driving. This car has get up and go when you need the power or just cruise around, very quite even at high speed on the highway.

This is the most disappointing car Ive ever owned. Although its comfortable, quiet, roomy and has a great stereo, its had 3 recalls. Other than the notorious gas pedal problem, it also has a recall on a defective oil supply line going to the valves. If this bursts like mine did you may very well destroy your engine and the only warning you will get is the sound of your engine seizing up! The transmission is jerky but no recall for that yet. If you already own one of these cars, call your dealer NOW and tell them you want the oil supply line replaced at once (for free) or youll be very sorry. They will not warn you about this problem ahead of time by sending you a letter so call today.

Rated it very low. Handles badly (follows ruts in highway and drifts around on highway). Headliner not attached in rear. Paint so soft the wind scratches, it seems. Electrical switches work sporadically. There is an undiagnosed rattle on the passenger side in the front. Makes you wonder if you take a trip, if you will get there or not. Reliability is scary.

This is the second Avalon that Ive owned, and the 2007 is much nicer than the 2004 I traded. Test drove Volvo S80, Saab 9-5 and Lexus ES 350. The Avalon, while not having the panache of the other brands, is by far the best value for the money. Beautiful interior, contemporary exterior and the powertrain is responsive.

First of all I am 6 6" and 320 lbs and find it very comfortable. I took a trip out to the west coast and doing 80 mph I was getting 34 mpg. The engine is quiet and smooth, transmission shifts just fine, maybe Im lucky but I never needed any kind of service except for oil and filters. Its a great car, and Im just waiting for the new model year to get another one. I now have 39000 miles.

  • Great, no, fantastic car for the money - 2007 Toyota Avalon

This car is all about refinement and silky performance. Fit and finish is outstanding as is ride comfort and quietness. To think I have a car which will get to 60 in under 7 secs, get mid 20s mileage in all round driving, and near 30mpg on the highway, all on regular gas is truly remarkable. Stereo and adaptive cruise control are great but I am disappointed that the memory seat feature doesnt adjust the steering wheel and main rear view mirror like cars in this price range should. Here in North Florida I recommend the extra window tint and the optional rear window screen.I havent ridden in that fabulous rear seat but my guests have commented that the comfort rivals limos theyve ridden.
