  • OK but not great - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

We purchased the 2011 4Runner with a 3rd row seat for our growing family. The one thing I cant get over is how under powered the V6 engine is. It will not accelerate unless you floor it, and even then it isnt that great. The interior is nice and functional, but another one of my pet peeves is that it doesnt have auto headlights, which is strange considering it a 2011. The car works well as an everyday driver around town, but struggles on hills and on the Hwy. I wont be buying another Toyota after this one.

  • Love my Freda the 4-Runner-Limited - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

Bought my 4-Runner Thanksgiving of 2011 & I wouldnt trade her for any other vehicle on the road. She has been to Mackinac, North Carolina (twice) South Carolina, Georgia, Oklahoma, New Orleans & never had her in the shop for repairs. We live in NW Ohio where the winters have been pretty brutal the last couple years & she never failed to get me through deep snow & rough roads. We will keep her till the wheels rust off. My husband has a 2007 Tundra that also is still going strong with no shop repairs. Toyota makes the best vehicles on the road bar none.

  • Solid choice - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

I really enjoy the 4Runner and it has met all my expectations. I wanted a truck with the SUV body and that is exactly what it is. I was also aware that the vehicle is a bit underpowered and am I fine with that. We also own a 2010 Highlander Limited. The Highlander is more like a car to me now than a crossover SUV. Anyone who complains about not having an assisted tail gate clearly should be buy another vehicle, or needs to go to the gym.

  • love my 4runner! - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

Complaints: noisy blower fan, a little slow to build up when throttled up, complicated NAV (like all others) Pros: Everything else is great! Strong motor, smooth in all facets. Love the rear pull out deck for the kids gear, very comfortable leather seats, awesome in poor winter weather, really just a great all around vehicle.

  • everyone wants my car - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

I will run this vehicle into the ground and judging my my uncle with a 97 @ 300k ...thats going to take a while. Bought this car pre-owned (64k) almost 2 years ago. I have the limited 4x4 which is AWD all the time. I drive mostly short city trips and then I frequently take road trips (at (89k now). Ive had this car in every weather condition and Im so thankful for that. Last week I got caught in a flash flood on the way to Vegas and while other cars were loosing control in deep puddles, the traction control kicked in/ AWD helped on multiple accounts to keep us center. Handles well in snow, sand, rocks, ect. It handled really well going down a steep curved hill in snow. In high winds, I barely feel it. I can fit more in this SUV with the seats folded down than a Tacoma (length wise). I work at a Toyota Dealership so I can see all the service records, and theres never been a major issue, even while they were certifying the vehicle for resale. I have to admit, its probably due to the city driving, but my MPG has decreased since I bought it 18 down to 15/16. Handles well and can stop on a dime. A month after getting it, another 4Runner merged into me and I barely felt it although the whole right side needed to be replaced. Overall solid car. The navigation is due for an update, and the voice command is really annoying/inaccurate/long. (I recommend a 14 and up, cause they improved it drastically). Overall, Im in love with this car and my friends always beg to ride in it for road trips. 12 plus hours, and youre still comfortable. The 3rd row should not be considered for regular use, and its small and not very comfortable. However, for short, infrequent rides, its a really nice option to have. If youre considering a package that doesnt come with a back up camera, I recommend getting one installed. Regardless of the kind of driver you are, stock this is a tall vehicle. Im 58 and thin and my boyfriend is 62 and has an extremely wide build. We both sit comfortably. Ive had kids aged 4-9 sit in my back seat. The boosters/car seats are super easy because everything is so high up. Although, they all struggle to get inside the car so if you have small kids or youre short, invest in running boards. *a year later update...still feel the same*

  • Hate my 2011 Toyota 4runner - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

My first experience with toyota and I hate my 4 runner. Poor design of the running boards- they are useless!!! Also what vehicle now days doesnt have an automatic rear hatch. I have the limited model with all the bells and whistles and I think it still feels cheaply made. Very disappointed!!! I want my 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe back. Not a family friendly vehicle. You cant get kids in and out of carseats with the worthless running board in the backseat.

  • 11 4R better than 05 - 2011 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Traded 05 4Runner for 11, and definitely an improvement. Quieter, more responsive handling, just as powerful. Miss the rear door close-assist, and dont understand lack of cross-rails for luggage rack, but addn of bluetooth phone and leather, electric, heated seats more than acceptable trade-off. This version even classier than 05, and mpg is the same (18/21). Feels bigger, more substantial, and just as good of quality. Like the stylish design, and the addl height makes me feel more confident on the road.

  • It is a cheap truck with a back seat. - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

Last car was a $55g 09 BMW 335i xdrive w/ sport - ref this vehicle for my pov. It was the ultimate, if you want a fast capable vehicle. Now lets talk about a real suv. I wanted a fun and radical departure from a 335 - I got it! The 4runner is not fast and is NOT a luxury car - slow down and enjoy life. The interior, ride, and quality is fine for a 45g truck based suv. If you want a fancier version - shell out the bones for a Lexus GX. The seats are fine for a truck, the body is not meant to reduce drag so it whines at times, and the brakes make a sound. It is a great vehicle in a quirky niche that is overall big fun to drive for a relatively small payment. Fun ride.

  • huge improvement - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

I refused to buy the previous generation 4Runner because it was too small and wimpy looking. My 2011 trail edition has been problem-free and has gone through several rough jeep trails without breathing hard. The size is perfect for us. The increased horsepower of the V6 is enough for long grades. I would and will get this again when the lease expires.

  • Why is Toyota Going Backwards?? - 2011 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Had to purchase a replacement 2011 4Runner for my 2005 4Runner Sport Ed. due to damages from a body shop. I have to ask " What is Toyota thinking??" 1) This vehicle is severely under powered! Take off feels like being in 4 cylinder car w/ full power a/c 2) No gas latch / security 3) No cargo cover included w/ vehicle, Expensive purchase at $153.00 + tax or shipping/handling. 4) Lightning in the cargo are is crap, all lighting was installed on the back door. Non are actually in the cargo area/ Where you will actually be using. 5) Removed automatic back latch, have to slam down. 6) Why is a newer vehicle getting lower gas mileage than an older version?? 05 4Runner 19 new 17?? Really!!
