  Quality Problem with Vehicle - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

  Vehicle shudders when driving. Most posts of forum sites indicate there is s systemic problem with the Transmission and Toyota is investigating. You will want to review this before you purchase: http://www.toyota-4runner.org/5th-gen-t4rs/89301-has-anyone-noticed-5.html Those that have purchased and have this problem can only pray Toyota supports their customers on this. The Service Departments say there currently is not a fix and we have to live with it for now.

  Well, this is my first truck since I served in military in other country. All my other cars were track runners so I never thought Id enjoy driving a truck.. as those normally lack power or turning capability. Well, I was in for a treat. truck saved me a few times so far, and the offorad capability was a blessing. Build quality is impressive, interior is great. this truck could use more power, definitely, but for the weight / room / options, the power is ok. On the road it feels like a road truck, off road it feels like a decent, off-road built vehicle. Very happy with this investment. Oh, and estimated MPGs are wrong.. I get anywhere between 18.2-22, depending on areas. 17.5 in Chicago.

  My 1st 4R but on 3rd Taco pickup. I purchased 10 days ago and just completed a road trip. I tried a new Highlander,Camry,Avalon as well as a used Lexus car and Acura MDX and TL; settled on the 4R as it felt better than the rest. I also own a 02 Accord I bought new, and while a good car I feel it doesn’t match Toyota quality. I found some criticisms something to watch for,but exaggerated. The break booster sound is noticeable with the radio off, but not a big concern. I have not noticed hood vibration, cheap sounding doors, or problems with the brake feel, and the horn is fine. The performance and ride is great. I have yet to try accelerate quickly or tow anything. Love it so far.

  I have had the pleasure of owning 2 other 4runners before this one. One was a 2000 (leased but new) and the other I bought with 18,000 miles on it (2003) and had it until 118,000 miles when I decided to purchase a new 2011 model. While they did some nice improvements (love it being taller!) the quality isnt there anymore. I have had a rattling in the AC vent for 7 months (the dealership tried to fix it 5 times and still hasnt succeeded) and the paint chips so easily. And why would they keep the long antenna? I have been in touch with the dealership and Toyota customer service, and they just keep saying to take it to the dealership. Its a shame...

  Have had my 2011 4Runner since 10/29/10. Right out fo the gate, there is a slight engine stutter between 40 mph and 50 mph - havent taken it in yet as it doesnt impact performance . So far Ive taken it off-road; sand/mud/snow, as well as day-to-day pavement. This thing is GREAT ALL-AROUND. I got just over 200K miles out of my Chevy Trailblazer and expect to get at least that out of this 4Runner.

  Shocks...Please Ignore Earlier Comment - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

  In an earlier post, a consumer commented on the weakness of the Toyota OEM shocks. The comment is inaccurate. The poster describes a condition which is clearly the result of driving style, not the performance of a 5,000lb truck. If you drive a truck the same as you may drive a BMW, the results will be dramatic and perhaps traumatic. Changing to Bilstein shocks will not help this problem. The shocks are fine. It aint the car. And no, I do not work with or for Toyota in any way. i have been in the automotive biz my entire life and involved with motorsports for 30+ year, but never with Toyota.

  Cannot go wrong with this. After driving a Accord, MAXIMA, BMW, i can say that Toyota offers best of both worlds (value and comfort). Never had a problem with my my 4runner. Getting 20 mpg in mixed driving. Handles bumps and potholes like it can cream them. Rides on softer side and thus gets tremendus off road abilities. Went through 2 feet of water on a flooded street and did not feel a thing. It accelerates slowler than other crossovers but once on the move it can fly like a jet.

  Solid truck - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

  I did a lot of research into different SUV options and the 4Runner came out on top. The European options such as the Land Rover, MB M-class, and BMW X-series are all great options, however in these tough economic times the cost differential simply cant be justified - initial purchase price will be $10k+ over a Japanese option and the maintenance charges are outrageous. Since I do not anticipate going off road, I opted for the 4x2 Limited model. Looks just as good and it is a bit cheaper. While the truck may not be that exciting in terms of fun to drive, the reliability is the main reason I bought it. Do some research and youll be amazed at the statistics around the 4Runner.

  Im coming up on my 1 year anniversary of ownership of my 4-runner and I have nothing but positive vibes to say. I traded in my 08 Jeep Grand Cherokee for this car and I have never looked back If youre like me and want a true SUV to handle ski road trips in the winter, and camping in the summer, then this should be your ride. Fun to drive, powerful, and and is just plain cool to own. Plus, it handles whatever mother nature throws at you. My 4-runner has driven thru hurricane irene and a 30 inch Noreaster with ease. I love the fact that it has stayed true to its roots and feels like what an SUV should feel like. If you are like most and want a crossover SUV feel, then this is not your ride

  Excellent Quality - 2011 Toyota 4Runner

  I have been driving the 2011 4Runner for about a week now and every single time I hop in, I like it even more. The ride is smooth, even over not so favorable roads (Dirt/Sand/Holes). I have been averaging about 19.8 MPG mixed driving. The engine puts out a lot of power for a V-6. By the way, I tried the pathfinder, pilot, and a couple of crossovers and this 4runner blows them out of the water. Toyota did a great job on this model.
