This Year's Model Updates:

The XL-7 receives minor updates to the exterior and equipment list. The Touring and Limited models have been renamed EX III and LX III. The front grille and bumper have been reworked, and the foglights, taillights and headlights all have a new look. The front-passenger airbags are now multistage, and there's a new panic button on the keyless remote. Lastly, the V6 engine gets two additional horsepower for a total of 185, and the automatic transmission is now a five-speed unit.

Pros:
  • Affordable base price, competent on- and off-road handling, available seven-passenger seating.
Cons:
  • Cramped second- and third-row seating, dated cabin design, low-grade interior plastics, side airbags not available.

I was all set to purchase a Honda Pilot when a friend recommened I take a look at the 2004 Suzuki XL-7 EXIII. I took one out for a test drive could not believe the ride, handling, and good gas mileage. The dealership was very friendly and offered that I take it home for the night to see if I enjoyed the SUV. All around was one of the best experiences I ever had purchasing a new car. And the plus was I got to save over $6,000.

Wow, with 4 children was looking for a smaller SUV that would hold seven. Not many choices on the market. Looked at the Escape and CRV. Dollar for dollar, glad I choose the XL-7 w/ the trird row seat. I love it as well as the kids. Am commented by others how great it looks. Love the drive as well as the mpg. No regrets and highly recomend.

We as a family drive Saabs and we wanted to make sure we had a deep snow vehicle. We were very impressed with the ride and handling after looking at several other vehicles we felt for the Money this was our best choice.

This vehicle needs a wider wheel base and extended flaps on visors to block drivers eyes from sun only. Everything else is great. Maybe a back door that opens away from curb rather then to the curb. The handling is sweet, likes its on clouds. The headlights are remarkably bright. No DVD player tho for the wife n kids??? Honda Odessy has one up on you. Ever consider getting rid of the "7 passenger" title to make more leg room and rear storage?? try it, you might be surprised.

  • You can not find a better value in a SUV - 2004 Suzuki XL-7

I actually did not plan on buying this vehicle when I visited the dealership. I sat in one on the showroom floor and was amazed. Our other vehicle is a 2003 Ford Explorer Limited and for a mere $9000 less the XL-7 blows it away. The only option missing is power seats. Fuel economy is a little lower on the highway than rated but most of my travel is above 70 mph. Overall it is a quiet smooth ride. There are no options on the EX version, everything is standard.
