This Year's Model Updates:

As the Impreza was redesigned just last year, not much changes for 2003. Convenience has been improved; keyless entry is now standard equipment on the 2.5 RS, TS Sport Wagon and Outback Sport. For the WRX, Subaru will offer a standard rear spoiler on the sedan (though you can still get the car without, if you want) and Sonic Yellow is available as an exclusive WRX color.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition.

It is absolutely fantastic car. The infamous turbo lag can be sometimes annoying, but after 6 months I almost mastered beating it, when need power. Florida is flat, but those wet ramps are great! I took a wagon for utility (also looks are in my opinion better then sedan) and can recommend all cargo accessories from Subaru (bin, net, tray, etc.). Also get the armrest extension if you are tall. An of course, get short-throw shifter! Fuel economy is an oximoron for this car: 20/25 premium (at best) is pathetic for a 2.0 l engine. Highway can be even worse if keep the speed above 80 mph. But boy, is it worth it.

its no sti, but for 20grand, i cant think of a better car, flat out accelaration isnt its strongest suit (though ive waisted a jetta 1.8t off the line) but but its great for tossing around the twisties, the steering is respincive and the shifter feels accurate, though a little gates. the suspension is tight without being punishing

This has got to be one of the most underrated cars out there, Its practicality is useful for almost situation a driver wants(except racing) unless turbod. It was my best friend in 20cm of snow and its AWD never let me down.

If youre looking for an sporty sedan, look no further.Awesome performance for under 25k. It seats 4 people comfortably with even the fifth "real seatbelt," not just the lap one. Just make sure you buy it stick shift so you can really make use of that turbocharged engine. Once you get a feel for it, take it in the canyons and when you hit the turns in 2nd or 3rd gear HOLD the gas pedal! Now youll know why you bought this car.

Beside the known fact that this car is the best in its class, Ill want to highlight some problems I experienced with it. Front brakes rotors, sipping radiator, bad paint quality.

At initial purchase this was the most bang for the buck in my price class. Although the styling might be taken as dowdy by some, this car is the swiss army knife of vehicles. I commute 110 miles each day(80 highway, 30 dirt) and I find the car very comfortable. Gas mileage could be better. The motor and AWD are the big reasons to have this car. Ive put 25,000 miles on this car in less than 4 months and it shows no signs of slowing down. The car will see action in both auto-x and rally-x this summer. The most amazing thing is that with an experienced driver at the helm I have never seen a faster car down a dirt road..."UNCLE!"

  • Snow? What Snow? - 2003 Subaru Impreza

I bought my 2003 Outback Sport Manual just as the weather changed from dry rainless weeks to rainy days and slick roads here in the east. It gives a great feeling of the road and handles better in inclimate weather than the 1996 Nissan 200SX SE-R that I previously owned. The first snow of the year I saw more Subaru owners on the road than SUV owners. Yeah Subaru!! Fun to drive in all kinds of weather. Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!
