This Year's Model Updates:

For 2004, all Imprezas sport revised front and rear fascias -- gone are the oddball circular headlamps in favor of a more mainstream wedge-shaped design. In addition, all models get upgraded suspension struts (to improve ride quality and steering response), Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, a collapsible pedal system, revised gauges and a new stereo faceplate. The WRX and Outback Sport receive projector beam foglights. Inside, WRX models have new sport seats, a central tachometer and darker gray faux metal accents. The TS wagon, Outback Sport and RS sedan add an in-glass antenna, active front head restraints, central power door lock switch and multireflector halogen headlights. Further, the TS now has four-wheel disc brakes. The RS sedan's keyless entry system now has an audible confirmation feature, and keyless entry is now standard on the TS. Finally, the WRX sedan is now available with a Premium Package that includes a sunroof, trunk spoiler, heated mirrors, heated front seats and a wiper de-icer.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Often pricey when compared to its competition, tight rear quarters.

  • 1st Subaru, and I am glad I bought it. - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I bought my Outback Sport on 6/1/04, and have loved every minute of driving. Im still under the break-in period (only 150 miles left) so Im keeping it (barely) under 4k RPM. Even keeping my Sport under 4k RPM, I still have enough power to freely move around at freeway speeds. I took my Sport and my fiancee on a nice long drive up Pacific Coast Highway from Santa Monica to Ventura the weekend after we bought it, and we were thrilled with the handling, power, and comfort. This is truly the perfect car for me. Plenty of room for the rugrats (when they come) and for Future Dog (when he is adopted).

  • Great little wagon! - 2004 Subaru Impreza

After flipping cars every 6 mos for the past 2 years, I think Ive finally found the right balance of everything! Has plenty of room (like my old 4Runner), handles great (close enough to my A4), gets great gas mileage (MUCH better than my V6 Accord)...This car has handling, convenience and character to spare! The boxer engine is just a gem - likes to rev, rock and roll! The 2.5L engine has PLENTY of power and torque, gets better gas mileage than the 2.0L blown version, and costs about HALF to insure. Skip the WRX, skip the 9.2X and check this one out - you wont be disappointed.

I shopped around for something w/awd, with decent gas mileage, and some good power for around 25K.This is it! Fun to drive, great safety, decent room for ski or golf gear. Got the short throw shifter, autodim mirror, arm rest ext. (should be standard), bumper cover, extended warr. All for the price I expected. Im very happy so far, with exception of the stereo.

With 300hp this vehichle is awesome! The unique looks and the engine make the STi worth the money.

  • The Little Car That Could... - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Besides its reliability and AWD, the WRX is just fun to drive! Gas mileage could be a little better, but when youre cruising on the highway, one tends not to look at how much gas is being used. I never thought shifting could be so fun!

  • STI WRX Gold - 2004 Subaru Impreza

I am glad that I gought this car and thanks to Subaru of dallas letting me test drive a STI. I am amazed by the performance by the STI, the way it handles on the street and on the track.

  • Most Imprezive car in its class. - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Before I bought my Impreza RS I researched compact sendans under $20,000 for a few months. The cars that I was looking at where: Toyota Corolla S & Matrix, Nissan Sentra Type R, Honda Civic, Ford Focus, Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart and the BMW Mini Cooper (base model). Of all these vehicles I chose the Impreza RS because it offers more performace and features for the price than the competition and Subarus exellent reputation for being reliable. This is a high quality car.

  • This car quietly rocks! - 2004 Subaru Impreza

Love it! Traded in a 2004 Nissan Spec- V with great relief, took a massive financial hit, and got twice the car (at a lower price). Quality, performance, and a great great value. Engine cranks up nicely, good compromise on ride/handling, decent mileage and big gas tank, quality interior, all good stuff. This would be a good bargain in the sports sedan class without the 4WD, with the 4WD it kills the competition. And the rep is pretty good for durability and safety. Assuming no service problems, and the same line of cars, Im a Subaru guy for life.

  • No time for indecision - 2004 Subaru Impreza

The joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, and hence there is no greater joy than to have an endlessly changing horizon. (Alexander Supertramp) In my new subaru I have seen just this. One day in the city the next racing on the beach at 70 mph. What a rush. A real sence of saftey and durability. I traded my 850 turbo wagon for the wrx wagon. What a difference. Just as much power but 1/2 the size and cargo space. It enables you to take roads you wouldnt even think of. Small suv meets sports car with the added bonus of turbo charged awd samuri, at no added cost.

  • Fun and practical - 2004 Subaru Impreza
    By -

After drooling over the WRX I finally bought one and couldnt be happier. An absolute blast to drive but with plenty of interior room so it still remains practical. Before the WRX, Ive always driven pickups and was worried that I wouldnt have enough space for my camping equipment, but with the rear seats folded forward there was more than enough room. Really dig the way it doesnt look like sports car, but performs like one.
