This Year's Model Updates:

The 2007 Scion tC hatchback sees its lineup expand with the addition of a new, stripped-down, less expensive trim level. Dubbed the Spec trim, Scion's intention is to have this model serve as a blank canvas to be used as a starting point for customization. The Spec trim trades the base trim's 17-inch wheels for 16-inchers, foregoes the base model's power sunroof for a fixed glass roof and offers unique upholstery and interior trim.

Pros:
  • Many standard features, sharp handling, roomy cabin, value-oriented price.
Cons:
  • A couple of odd design elements, bland styling.

  • Out of the Wrapper a BEST BUY! - 2007 Scion TC
    By -

In true light of the topic, this car drives very well. Out of the wrapper this is hands down the best bang for the buck. I own a 5spd tC for 1 year and18k miles, and I find the acceleration is adequate, handling is nimble, top end is good. Brakes are adequate though I occasionally wish there was NO fade. Fuel economy ranges from 22-30+ depending on how “spirited” you drive. I notice a slight difference with the 92 octane gas (here in NY) but at $3.30+ a gal save the money and go regular (89 octane). The seats accommodate you well, though on long (4hr+) trips I can appreciate more comfort. I often travel alone, but with one passenger, two if you include my 100 lb. German Shepherd.

I recently purchased my 2007 Scion tC, and have been pleasantly surprised. It is not as luxurious as the 2007 Civic, however, it is roomier, and gives the sense of being more "open." I loooove the cabin space, and pick up that this car has. It you drive slowly, you actually average 25-26 mpg on the city. For what I paid, I got a VERY good car! I highly recommend it!

  • Too Many Visits to the Service Shop... - 2007 Scion TC

When I bought this car, I was thinking, cool, I dont have to worry about taking any trips to the shop, because Im quite busy. Yeah right, this car saw the shop more in its three months life than my Acura Integra did in its 11 year lifetime! Rattle this, rattle that, clutch disengaging when cold, bad engineering on the glass wind deflector/sunroof. Its like sitting under an exquisite chandelier during an earthquake. Its beautiful to look at, but deadly when things goes wrong. The coolest thing about this is, Toyota isnt really doing anything to fix it. I have an 07 tC and still had a hail of shattered glass fall into the cabin. Other than that, its a decent car with OK gas mileage

  • great car for the price - 2007 Scion TC

I used to drive 90 miles round trip for work and got 32 mpg. now I do more city driving and get about 25 mpg. With 92K on the odometer it still has lots of power and quiet engine. It is great car on smooth roads but kinda choppy on bumpy ones. Plenty of leg room even in the back seat but head room is tight in back. Fun to drive and sound system is great. Good car for price.

  • Rattles and Rattles but Good Reliability - 2007 Scion TC
    By -

This car is a poorly made car but reliable as all can be. After the first month my radio door started squeaking. The first day that it was below 25 degrees you could hear what sounds to be a bolt snapping against the windshield...3 warranty claims later and still does it. The drivers mirror vibrated like you wouldnt believe so that was replaced under warranty. The trunk rattles so much it will make you go mad. The gears are too small, with a different 5th gear this car would easily get 40+mpg. At 70mph in fifth Im at 3700rpm. I wouldnt recommend this car to anyone with my experience without corrections to these areas.

  • Better Than Expected - 2007 Scion TC

This is the best car out there for such a low price. Its fun to drive. It accelerates very quickly. Its reliability is questionable though. The engine should last a long time because its a Toyota Camry engine. The body seems a little too plastic. Overall, its a great valued car. I recommend it to anyone on a tight budget or who likes to tune cars.

  • An alternative review - 2007 Scion TC

Im 2,500 miles into my 2007 Scion tC and I can say Im pretty happy with my purchase. Most reviews tell you how great the car is, and for the most part, they are true. Its a pleasure to drive and looks great. Not to be negative, I just want to take my chance to inform readers of the flip side. Dont get me wrong, I love 95% of the car, but to offer more insight to prospective buyers, here are the things that irk me: the sunroof cover is cheap. It is made of flimsy canvas and mine broke and came off the track the 2nd/3rd time I used it! Black interior shows every little speck, nearly impossible to keep looking clean. A/C vents arent placed well, its hard to get air to blow right on you.

This car is fun to drive. The inside is nothing special. About one year after buying it, the windows makes rattling noise when on highway. Also, the trunk rattles during normal driving (the dealership states it is the car and there is no fixing it). The radio cover rattles as well =-( . Other than that, I have had no problems

  • Very nice car - 2007 Scion TC

I have had no problems with this car at all. I bought it 2 months ago and already have 4000 miles on it and the only thing that has gone wrong is a clutch cable had to be adjusted because I tried power shifting it a couple of times. It is a great buy for the price. It doesnt jerk out of any gear, you just need to learn how to drive a manual. The clutch is a little touchy but once you get used to it, its awesome. You can put the power to the wheels in an instant.

  • Not Much Fun - 2007 Scion TC
    By -

I really want to like this car, but I cant help feeling I made a horrible decision here. Theres nothing actually WRONG with this car, its just that after a few months driving it, Ive realized that Ive just bought a pretty standard economy car, the number one issue being that its no fun to drive at all. It has good power for such a cheap car, but unfortunately its suspension is way too soft, it leans too much in corners, and its isolated from the road like a sedan, instead of a sports coupe. I like to hear some noise and feel some bumps, and I like hard solid suspension so I feel confident in corners. Put the Mazda3s suspension on this car and itd be perfect for the price.
