Overview & Reviews
A four-cylinder version of the XE slots into the 2008 Saturn Aura lineup as the entry-level model. Stability control becomes standard on V6-equipped XE models. All Saturn Auras come with satellite radio this year, and the trip computer gains an instant fuel economy meter. The Convenience Package now includes an auto-dimming rearview mirror.
- Potent and refined powertrain in XR model, balanced ride and handling, attractive design inside and out, roomy seating for all.
- Some ergonomic gaffes and subpar cabin materials, no rear center armrest, lifeless steering.

Pedal positioning is painful - 2008 Saturn Aura
By rojo8 - March 26 - 10:16 amThe gas and brake pedals are far apart and both are high off the floor, so its impossible to pivot your foot comfortably on the heel. I have to completely let my foot off the gas pedal in order to hit the brake. No big deal obviously on high speed drives with minimal braking, but in-town driving is painful. Because its so uncomfortable, its also very unsafe. Id find myself resisting moving back and forth between braking and accelerating, which obviously is not a safe driving practice. If youre small-feeted like me (size 8-9; not terribly small in fact) but youre used to stomping on your pedals, then no big deal. Pivoting is safer because its more comfortable. What an idiotic design.

08 Aura - 2008 Saturn Aura
By Bob - February 12 - 6:23 amI had a Honda Accord before and I struggled with purchasing a Saturn. I had purchased two other Saturns before for the wife and hated them both but this one has been a pleasant surprise. Smooth quite ride with what I think is preety good gas mileage for a V6 (Avg 25) doing city and highway 50/50. Had one small coolant link since in the first 6 months, which was just an occasional drip. Other then that perfect. Wife always had a hard time with Nav systems but the OnStar has been the perfect solution. I drive it about 80% of the time and the wife uses it when she nees directions. Shes got an 07 Honda and just admitted that she likes this better. Time will tell if its as reliable as a Honda.

Mixed Emotions - 2008 Saturn Aura
By Adam - February 7 - 9:43 amIm about 8000 miles in now. It has great performance. I get compliments on the looks of the car (one lady thought it was a Lincoln MKS). The interior still baffles me. For the most part, its quiet and comfortable, but the plastics are a bit cheap. The traction control switch is under the armrest, the heated seat buttons are down low on the side of the seat, and the side mirror switches are too far away. These all need to be re-positioned so they are easier to get to. And who still puts an emergency brake pedal on the floor? I had a bad rattle, which ended up being a bad weld on the sunroof bracket. Dealer fixed it under warranty.

Pleasantly suprised. - 2008 Saturn Aura
By Bakerman23 - February 1 - 1:43 amFrom the moment I test drove this car till now I have loved every single moment. The acceleration is peppy for a 4 cylinder. The suspension is great, and the car feels really solid. Im glad I spent the extra money for this car over the Astra.

Great Commuter - 2008 Saturn Aura
By berne1 - December 31 - 8:53 amGot the Aura XE 4-cyl last month to replace my ION. What a step up! This is the first in a long time Ive returned to the same manufacturer (had two Acuras in a row in the early 90s). Went for the 4-cyl because of price & MPG (commter car). It has a lot of nice unexpected touches- -the auto-up drivers window, interior "mood lighting", telescoping steering wheel, cargo nets. Wasnt expecting any of that in this level Aura. Interior is very quiet. 6- speaker stereo is above average for a base system. Large trunk. Good power. I really like the styling, one of my top reasons for purchase. It looks more expensive than it is.

Saturns gone but ive got mine! - 2008 Saturn Aura
By golferpal2 - December 13 - 4:56 pmThis is a wonderful car and finally they got it right. Gm is the loser. They lost me from being a future customer. All those gm cars and gm couldnt run the corporation correctly. Hondas are my next new car in 2011.

Better than the Caddy. - 2008 Saturn Aura
By Bobcat - November 26 - 5:20 amThis car is more comfortable than my Caddy and more fun to drive and gets 10 mpg more without premium fuel. Not as much room, but we are retired and dont need the room. Also it can be towed behind the RV with four wheels down.

Update of previous review - 2008 Saturn Aura
By Steve - November 14 - 9:53 amNow that I have had the car for a while, I can now say I am more than pleased with it. I have discovered that using semi-synthetic oil helps a bit with gas mileage, as does putting better tires on the car. Now getting 22 mpg in town and 34 on the highway. Better than with regular oil. The ride, quiet and handling are vastly better with Continental 225/50/17 DWS tires than the OEM ones. All in all, a lot of bang for the buck. Too bad they are going away. Ill be driving mine into the ground since it works so well for my needs.

Great car - 2008 Saturn Aura
By RON - October 26 - 12:46 amI bought this car to tow behind my motor home. Im a full timer and tow it a lot. Great all around gas milage, great ride, looks real nice. So far my only complaint is the key fob failed to function properly and had to be replaced by dealer. If Saturn continues to around ,I will buy another and I hope it does
