I absolutely love my Vibe. The mileage is great and there is plenty of room for my family of three. You cant beat Toyota quality at a Pontiac price!

I bought my Abyss Vibe back in Feb. 04. Previously I was driving a Dodge Dakota, but wanted a little more room. I wasnt really aware of the Vibe until I started looking for a trade-in. I fell in love with it, and bought it even though it cost more than my truck. It has great styling, very functional, gorgeous interior, and great gas mileage. The performance can be enhanced easily if you want to spend a few bucks. I put Eibach Sportline lowering springs on it and it now sits about 2 inches lower and handles even better than stock. I also put a Magnaflow exhaust which makes it sound a little bit more aggresive.

We have had a variety of AWD continuously since 1974 and this represents the best combination of all. It is an outstanding blend of economy, comfort, utility and reliability. We often drive long distances in inclement weather and the AWD Vibe handles everything exceptionally well and without drama or failure while allowing us to always arrive on time. This is my wifes favorite vehicle and she cares for it assiduously. I have recommended it to many others, along with the Matrix twin.

small rear side window creates a blind spot, which is not there in toyota matrix, because of larger window.

  • nothing is perfect, although this is close - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

GM needs to really get some younger engineers to design their vehicles or get new ones. This vehicle is made at the same plant which builds Toyota Matrix (which I like alot more than this cars outside design) I purchased this vehicle for the GM staple and show American car loyalty (please dont laugh, What loyalty?) Very versatile, functional, and fun to drive, no problems and car is 2 years old. Only regular maintenance and I would give this car a 10 but nothing is perfect.

Lots of fun to drive, great gas mileage.

  • great little car - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

Purchased this car two months ago, and have definately enjoyed it. It handles like a charm and gets 35mpg on the highway. Dont know how well the AWD functions, as inclement weather has not shown itself yet. The AWD is a bit sluggish off the line, but holds its own well at highway speeds. the automatic tranny has trouble finding the best gear when going up hills or when passing at high speeds. would definately prefer a manual in this car. but not a choice. car is often downshifting when cruise control is engaged, making for a loud ride at times

  • Watch out Matrix! - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

Pontiac told me it had a Toyota engine and that it wasbasicall the Matrix sister car, so I went to check out the Matrix and wanted one but Toyota did not want to negotiate. Went back to Pontiac, they gave me a heck of a price (better than Edmunds), so I bought one. I am in love with this car. My kids like it and my wife loves to drive it. Excellent gas mileage, smooth ride and it is cool looking. If it has a Toyota engine I am sure it will last and even though it may not have the Matrix resale value now, Toyota better not get comfortable because this car will dominate the Matrix, especially if Toyota keeps their prices up.

  • Great Commuter Car - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

We have had this vehicle 12 months. Havent been back to the dealer yet for anything. I drove for 6 months. My wife drove for 6 months. We both like it. For comparison, I bought a new chevy cavalier wagon back in 1985 and it was overall a great car for all 12 years I owned it. The Vibe is kind of like the new improved version of the chevy. Bigger tires, ABS brakes and much, much more comfortable seating. It was actually a coin toss between buying the Vibe or a Ranger pickup. With the benefit of 20/20 hindsight, and in view of todays gas prices, I think the Vibe provides the better overall utility and bang for the buck.
