  • Reliable, predictable, economical, zzzzz - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

My Vibe makes me smile. Its the red one you see most often in ads but not the GT. No supercharger. I bought it with 31k and put 32k on it. Besides oil changes only had to replace front brakes. Tight steering. Boring to drive but unbeatably reliable. Its a Matrix, after all. MPG averages 28-29 if I do 70 or under on the freeway and relax in traffic. Lots of space inside when you flatten the back seat. The car rides high for its light weight and you are at the driver level of the average SUV. You must adjust your mirrors accurately to avoid the blind spots - dont look surprised Toyota/Pontiac - you know they are there. Very easy to park and turn. A truly great little car... but boring.

We bought our vibe new in 2003. I was happy to have the style of a Pontiac and the reliability of the Toyota engine. Was I wrong! I have replaced my engine already at 70K. After research I have come to find out this is a common problem in Toyota engines. I would have expected something more reliable than what was purchased. I do love this car, or I wouldnt have spent the money to replace the engine. But it has left a bad taste in my mouth about the Vibe. I will not be purchasing another one for a 2nd car as planned. Its hard to praise a vehicle whose engine barely lasts past 70K. Boo Toyota. Would rather see a GM motor in this car.

Overall the Vibe is a great buy. I have had no problems with the car since I bought it. It is a very reliable and fun car to drive. I would definately recommend it to others.

  • Great value and safe at that - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

My wife just totaled her Vibe after having for a few years. We owned from 20k to 82k miles. We had to change brakes and one set of tires...nothing else. Overall it had a nice sporty look and was comfortable to make long 1000 mile trips. I would highly recommend. Car was hit very hard in front and no scratches to driver. I wouldnt have thought of as safe as car as it is. Going out to buy another

  • Good Vibes - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

Ive wanted this car every since the first brochure came out. Ive found my hatch remote unavailable and the middle compartment will not stay closed. It is made of cheap plastic and will not stay latched. To the dealer I go in less than 2 months to get the remote reprogrammed and the plastic compartment fixed. I drive 80 miles in a day and wanted an economical car. I fill up every 3 - 4 days because of the small tank and I dont drive 55. My paint is already chipping from the rocks. Suggestion: Get the clear coat put on your new car. Im still happy with my vibe. It is fun to drive and with having dogs, the hard plastic in the back is awesome!

We like the roomy interior, and the flexibility to set the seating in many different ways. We have the 17 inch tires and the handling is superb, however it does need more power. I understand a turbo is going to be available, this will help. A great car for the price.

All factory with aftermarket 19 inch bbs rims, rides nice kinda slow as compared to a 1.8 vtech honda, I have 310000 KM and it still runs smooth with no major problems eccept for that dam window!!!

  • Not all I had hoped. - 2004 Pontiac Vibe

The peppy part and the milage are on the mark but its really just another small car to me. Its noisy and has a constant vibration. There are too many blind spots. I drive a large delivery truck and can manuever it better in traffic. The passenger side seat in narrower than the drivers side and squeezes you. Problems including a CD player skipping and the air conditioning quiting. It has an AC outlet but only the smallest of plugs will fit because of the cover cap. We needed a new key and it took the dealer 25 minutes to program the auto lock system with it.

I love my Pontiac Vibe. I am a 48 yr old female, and my daughter is 15. I wanted a car we BOTH liked, because this will be her car next year. I know it is called a cross-over utility vehicle but people are always asking if it is an SUV or a station wagon. What do YOU think???

Styling - New, fresh & modern. Performance & economy is very good. The GT will surely be my next car. Overall, this car seems very well "thought out," eg. the standard 115V oulet, fold down passenger seat that acts as a table and the extra 12V outlet. Love the stick shift. Sturdy handling & solid feel. Had a very good experience at the dealer. They went above and beyond to find the exact car I was looking for in a very short time. Very happy with my Vibe thus far.
