Overview & Reviews
The 2004 GTO is an all-new rear-wheel-drive performance car from Pontiac. Although it is new to the U.S. market, it is based on a car sold by GM's Australian subsidiary, Holden, under the Monaro nameplate.
- Powerful V8, rear-wheel drive, predictable handling from fully independent suspension, loaded with standard features.
- Forgettable styling, numerous standard features make it an expensive proposition.

Thumbs Up - 2004 Pontiac GTO
By TChicago - September 13 - 10:00 amI waited until I got some miles on my new GTO before submitting a review. I now have over three thousands miles on the odometer and I have not had one problem or any squeaks/rattles with this car. The car is very quick (I have the automatic) and comfortable. I can drive the GTO like a regular car 98% of the time (freeway commuting) I even have room for a babys seat in the back. When I want a sports car all I have to do is hit the throttle. This is the best car I have ever had in my driveway. I think the GTO most practical sports car on the market. I made the right choice.

M6 Impulse Blue 2004 GTO - 2004 Pontiac GTO
By Phillip Kelley - August 12 - 1:13 pmI purchased my 2004 GTO in November 2004. I have 2600 miles on the car and to date have had no problems with it mechanically. I do have a few concerns in the fact that the drivers and passengers windows do not defrost when there is inclement weather. Also the fact that you have to shift the 6 speed manual transmission from 1st to 4th (CAGS) under certain conditions is a pain in the neck! There is a bypass kit to eliminate this feature so I will probably install one soon. Also the fuel economy isnt close to what is stated on the window sticker. I thought that the power would be better but with a heavy car I guess its not too bad. In general I like the car very much and for the pricing it is great.

Just a cool car - 2004 Pontiac GTO
By lamadalton - August 7 - 10:00 amGreat Car, does everything right. Sound is awesome, really adds to the experience of driving the car. This car begs to be driven. Torque up the wazoo, without high rpm driving, so it feels fast at all times.

By Pat - July 26 - 11:46 amI bought my 04 goat 6 months ago and it has been a great car. Performance is excellent, Not a mustang around wants any part of it !!! We traveled about 150 miles with a Mercedes running with us from speeds 90 to 110 mph and average 23.4 mpg. yea 23.4 at those speeds I couldnt ask for a car more fun to drive for $35000.00..... Thanks Pontiac

2004 GTO - 2004 Pontiac GTO
By Steve - July 26 - 3:16 amFun car to drive. Hugs the road well. Excellent exceleration. I had a couple of cosmetic problems but they were taken care of at the dealership. Even though everyone is complaining about the exterior design every one seems to notice the car. The only complaint that I have is that I only got 15K on the original tires even with the traction control enabled all the time.

Wow - 2004 Pontiac GTO
By jkcook - June 14 - 10:00 amWas fully impressed from the first moment with this car and two thousand miles later I still havent gotten the smile off of my face. Before buying, I probably was able to put 20 miles on the car with the salesman in the right seat, so was unable to realy get a full feal for the car until after all the paperwork was signed and drove home. That first drive feeling was unbelievable. It is fun to drive at speed or slowing moving down the road and is still fun to catch the glimpses of other drivers who either catch the GTO badge on the side or the 5.7 on the rear. The inside is perfect and the fit andthe finish is flawless.

My 3rd GTO - 2004 Pontiac GTO
By Robert & Connie Lee - June 14 - 10:00 amI have owned 15 new pontiacs, including 2 other GTOs. Although the exterior styling is somewhat bland this by far is the hightest quality Pontiac I have owned. It is also the fastest in Stock Form even faster than the 1970 GTO Judge Convertale that I owned. the Handling is Precise, The Interior will rate up there with any General Motors product that has been built to date.
