This Year's Model Updates:

After its debut last year, the Nissan Versa receives only minor equipment revisions for 2008. The SL sedan can now be equipped with a rear spoiler and a lower body kit, while cruise control is a new option on base S models.

Pros:
  • Roomy interior with an adult-friendly backseat, comfortable ride, available with many useful convenience features.
Cons:
  • Engine gets noisy at high rpm, less than athletic handling and braking capabilities, inconsistent build quality.

  • I Love My Car! - 2008 Nissan Versa

I test drove a Scion xD and a Honda Fit before this one, and I fell in love immediately with the Versa. Its amazingly roomy, drives very smoothly at highway speeds (compared to other cars in its class) and is cute but not too cute like the Fit and Yaris are. I get good gas mileage, about 34 mpg with 60% highway 40% city driving. The model I bought has neat extras like audio and cruise controls on the steering wheel, armrest, etc. My fiancee loves how roomy it is, and I can fit both our bikes in the back easily. I think this is an underrated little car and a GREAT value!

I traded in a minivan for the Versa when gas prices neared $4 a gallon in 2008. I researched hatchbacks and visited countless dealerships & was impressed with the Versas features for the price. My husband was impressed with the get-up-and-go acceleration. We have a 13-year-old son and he finds the back seat roomy even with all his school gear and gaming supplies. I think the exterior is appealing & have even had 3 different people ask me for information about the car in parking lots. We told our boy that when he turns 16 he can choose between my Versa or my husbands Frontier truck & he cant make up his mind!

Nice care for the money. Spacious interior, and decent ride. Could use a little more power, but we didnt buy it to be a sports car. We just wanted a reliable family sedan, and the Versa exceeds that need.

Just got my Versa, liked the options on the SL but got a S with same upgrades for a lot less. Great on gas. Interior is awesome. Best new car I have purchased yet.

i keep reading how people have issues with power.have any of you ever driven a car with overdrive before?overdrive is like the fifth gear in a manual,it is only for highway driving.city driving and back roads you turn off overdrive.when i drive mine and am getting on the highway my overdrive is off until i get up to speed and think it has great pickup.i havent had any other problems like the muffler issue or bad allignment.did have to change fuel injectors but not in an amount of time that would make me think it is substandard.had a bad o2 sensor, same story.i would buy this car again

  • Great looking econo car - 2008 Nissan Versa

I own a 350Z and its gas hungry and I wanted something I could commute to work a few days a week to save on gas, but also travel in. I researched and came across the Versa. Its got a great interior design compared to comparable cars in its class. Its roomy and has great visibility all around, which is hard to say for the 350Z. I think this is a great buy for anyone looking for a good point A to B car to save on gas, but not feel like your driving a cheap tin can on wheels.

  • A Fun, Dependable, Economical Ride - 2008 Nissan Versa

We have owned our Versa for two years and have 29800 miles on it. We have the 1.8SL Hatchback with CVT. This is not a bland econo box. The CVT is seamless at all power levels and makes the car fun to drive, especially in traffic on the interstate. Highest Hwy mileage has been 36, but average is 31. Combined mileage is 29. The car handles snow and ice very well. The car is comfortable with minimal road noise. The only thing about the car we dont like is the ventilation. Even with a new cabin filter. Most of our miles on the car have been on the highway at speeds well over the speed limit. The car is a blast to drive and we would gladly buy another one.

  • Fun car to drive. - 2008 Nissan Versa

I just purchased my new Nissan Versa in June of 2007 and I love it. It is fun to drive, it is very comfortable and gets great gas mileage. This is my first new car and I know I made a great choice. I did a lot of comparison shopping with other manufacturers and I feel like, with the options I got, I got more for my money than I would have if I would have purchased a different make.

  • Versa rides bigger than it looks - 2008 Nissan Versa
    By -

I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the seats are and the roominess of my Versa, as well as how well it rides and responds to my foot. The car rides and responds like a much bigger car. They could have placed the side mirror controls in a better location so that you do not have to bend and reach to make adjustments. Other than that, my wife and I really enjoy driving this car.

  • "A lot for a little" - 2008 Nissan Versa

Considered a Toyota Yaris first, then a Honda Fit, but both were thousands of dollars more than the Versa. A fantastic buy for the price with AC and CD, radio player. Just like Nissans TV add says, "A lot for a little".
